I need a new camera

Why is this decision so hard to make :(

I had my heart set on this particular Panasonic Lumix camera, and I kept the tab open on my browser for a whole week! Only to find that the price has now gone up by £8! So so so annoyed at this. It isn't much of a price increase but when I shouldn't be spending the money in the first place, it's just that final straw that has pushed me into not buying it :/

I don't know why I have spent so long researching them either. My last camera was a silly little Fujifilm thing- so budget that the lens didn't even protrude out of the front! I loved this camera though. I'm sure to any person that knows even a little about photography then the picture quality is rubbish. It served me well though! It went on about 4 holidays, about 20 nights out. Has been thrown on the floor in drunken rage/lols/whatevergoodideaitseemedathetime and managed to survive. Then I take it to Leeds Festival and it no longer turns on. All I did was put it in my money wallet/safe pouch thing :/

So now, I have found a cheap alternative with the Nikon Coolpix which is advertised quite heavily. I just don't know whether to go for it. I have a deep fear it will be a rubbish camera. Yet all the bad reviews for it on Amazon are written by those who talk about things like Aperture and ISOs- they know what they're looking at. Pretty sure that I however won't, so I reckon I'd be quite easy to please. And it is worth the risk.

I think the cincher for me may be that this one is £40 cheaper than my old camera, yet has 2 more megapixels, equivalent zoom and a wider screen. So by all accounts it should be better than the  last one, and the last one could do no wrong in my opinion. (Gotta say it seemed to work better after its first love affair with the kitchen floor :P)
