Second Christmas or, the Kitteh and the Shower

We had "Second Christmas" with the daughter and SIL today. They spent actual Christmas across the state with his parents and brother and others. And since my very nice boss said I didn't have to be to work until 6pm (instead of the usual 3:30pm)we had time to have a nice little present exchange and some ham and candied sweet potatoes. And because she's an adventurous cook, she made us "Christmas Pudding"..the English/Irish kind. Lots of raisins, candied cherries, and other stuff. It sort of reminded me of fruit cake but it didn't have as much 'cake'. Plus she didn't bake it, she steamed it. The Mr., who had requested it in the first place, loved it! I liked it, but willing gave him the rest of my little 'pudding' since he enjoyed it so much.

But they had a very interesting story to tell. it seems that the SIL's parents have a cat, who is very shy, but loves to take showers (or at least sit under the running water from the faucet in the tub.) So when she hears you go into the bathroom and make noises that she associates with showering, she'll come in (or fuss outside the door until you open it) and jump into the tub and sit under the faucet and glare at you until you turn on the water. I've never heard of a cat who liked water that much! I grew up with them and mostly they just put their paws in it or splashed but hated getting wet.

We had a good time and they liked their presents. The SIL wants to brew his own beer, so we got him a starter kit..pails and bottles and all sorts of stuff. The daughter likes to sew ( my Mom's sewing skills must have skipped a generation..namely me!) so we got her a new sewing machine.Plus her usual box of white-chocolate fudge covered Oreos, and an assortment of hot chocolate mixes.

She made me a nice little cross-stitch wall hanging that says " On it, Boss" because she knows I still like N.C.I.S. quite a bit. Plus, when we still worked together a lot, she would answer me with that when I asked her to do something. It's nice when your grown children don't think you're crazy because you geek out over a T.V. show!

The Mr. got to watch a lot of football, which he loves, and I got to go to work, which wasn't too bad and now I'm going to go get some left-over pizza and watch a little TV and go to bed!
