At the end of the day....

Work went well last night and I felt less 'meh' by the time I got done and got home. It didn't hurt that at the very end of the shift, the song from the closing credits of "About Face" started playing on the radio. It always makes me smile and remember the highlights of the ep...the opening with Rossi shooting the bird (pigeon, duck?) and then the hug with Hotch. And then the song at the end and the team handing out Halloween candy at a crime scene !

The only downer was when I had to try to explain to the Mom of one of my kids why her daughter was being suspended for a week because of her attendance (or lack thereof) at work. We sort of went back and forth about it and I passed the buck to my boss, who wasn't there, so they'll probably be back tonight to talk to her about it. The thing that pisses me off is that the girl keeps saying "I want hours, I want hours." Okay, then work the hours I give you!
I only have 4 days a week that I schedule for and lately, at least once a week, she's called in and said she couldn't work because there's something else she has to /wants to do. If you want the hours, work the hours. End of story. The policy is that if you're sick, we ask that you call in at least 2 hours before your shift so we can try and find someone to work for you. If you just can't/ don't want to work, you need to call and you also need to try to find someone to work for you and they have to be able to work the spot you were supposed to work. On the theory that if you're well enough to do something else besides work, you can jolly well find someone for us so that we don't have to! And we tell the kids that's what the policy is from day one, so it's not like she doesn't know what she's supposed to be doing.

But anyway, it went well and I felt a litte better, but still tired. Tonight should be interesting for a number of reasons, plus I have to go home and try to get to bed a litte earlier because I have to be at a meeting tomorrow morning at 8:00am! Thankfully, I only do this once a month!

Happy Wednesday, we're half-way to the weekend!
