1. Antony & the Johnsons - Hope There's Someone - "To me it's a simple song about wanting to be loved. Absolutely beautiful."
2. Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) - "The first song on their spectacular album. I find it very uplifting but incredibly haunting at the same time."
3. The Futureheads - Man Ray - "Every song on their album has a fantastic energy to it. It took me a while to get into the album but once I did I never stopped playing it. This song is one of my favourites."
4. British Sea Power - Carrion - "They have just released their second album and it's great. This, however, is from the first, and remains my favourite song of theirs. Its lyrics are wonderful."
5. Weezer - Buddy Holly - "Quite simply one of the best pop songs ever written!"
6. The Libertines - Music When the Lights Go Out - "It's my favourite song from their second album. The phrase 'I no longer hear the music' sums up perfectly the feeling of the first stages of the end of a relationship. Sublime and immensely sad."
7. Pixies - Gouge Away - "Biblical imagery, half whispered vocals and an incredible chorus. This song and 'Where is my mind?' are my favourite Pixies songs."
8. Hope of the States - Me Ves y Sufres - "An incredibly sad song. To me it sounds like its about someone who, because of their own actions, has no hope of happiness."
9. Brendan Benson - What I'm Looking For - "A song that seems to me, to be saying 'Hey, there may not be a meaning to life. So lets all just enjoy living it.' A good attitude to have."
10. Buzzcocks - Boredom (live) - "The Buzzcocks are one of the greatest punk bands. They just had aabsolutely amazing tunes! Their influence can be heard everywhere and I doubt that quite a few of the bands on this list would exist without them."
