Have I mentioned today how great technology is? I just got home from run/apt hunting/present wrapping/bridal shower and my time is already posted!

This morning I went for a long run with water stations and timers, sometimes called a race. Bc I have run <10mi in the past two weeks combined, I was running to check another box, not for a time. The race itself went fine - the weird thing about racing with only women is that they chatter quite a bit and there's an endless sea of ponytails, but at least they aren't regularly spitting on the sides.

I was generally pleased with my performance - in addition to being my longest run ever, it was my longest run with no walkies ever and my longest run without musical entertainment ever, bc some dumbass didn't take 5 secs to check her equipment at home and only discovered her mp3 player was dead at the starting line.

200 meters from the finish line, I saw a chick come out of nowhere, running for the finish like a pack of zombies was after her. Somehow my legs took off too and I found myself running pell mell for the finish. It was exhilerating. I need to do that again :)

I caught my first few splits and forgot the rest. 8:51/9:25/9:25/9:53/?/? Basically, went out a little too fast (probably exhilerated to be running up CPW and by the motorcycle cops lining the route), the fourth mile was just plain icky, and I perked up at the end. The final time was between what one would project from the first two races of the season and what one would project from the second two races - considering I was coming off a mild injury and not running for two weeks, I'm not displeased. The "official" splits were 29:23/29:30, which I consider remarkably even.
