The Rest of My Winter Staycation

Jan 04, 2010 08:44

Weekend was more of the same. Sat morning I wrote and lounged about the house. Sat afternoon I went to Chelsea Piers again. Somehow, this time I managed to forget my shirt and a change of underwear. What is up with my subconscious?? I bought a fugly shirt there and went to hatha yoga. The class was not for beginners: while I'm enough of a dabbler to know some of the terminology, at one point Joan said, "Ok, now do the sun salutation of your choice." She came over to fix me early on in that moment, and said, "continue," which pretty much got her a "buh?" from me. oh well. Liked it. We worked on head stands, which I'm blaming for how much my hams hurt yesterday, and had nappy time for the last 15 mins.

Then B-a and I went climbing for 2hrs. Still no 5.9 love, although when I asked one of the employees, "why is that green 5.9 so much harder than the 5.8 next to it," he revealed that one of the route-setters, who happens to be his boss, is crap so. I think maybe next month I'll look into a private climbing lesson at the less expensive wall. Afterward, I went swimming at the CP pool, which was just as lovely as I could've wished. 200yd warmup, 6x100 IM w/0:45 rest, 4x200 free w/1:30 rest, cooldown. Good stuff. At the time I thought I was ridiculous for having a california roll post-workout, since the next item in my day was dinner, but I figured it was two hours before food appeared before me, and I was right.

Saw lots of people I hadn't seen in months at dinner. Wish I'd stuck to my guns and eaten with the Atkins folks though, bc it was carb-city: I'm willing to eat dramatically non-paleo in a good cause, but this wasn't it. Ended up going to my coworker's house for a "hair of the dog" party later than planned, which was sort of okay, bc there were fewer people I know there than I'd expected. It's been a really really long time since I went to a normal, casual party where there's no cause of the night and no nudity/sex/play. It was kinda nice, even if I did spend most of the night being talked at about the joys of barefoot running. At least that was better than the food blogger who loudly told me, "No, you're wrong. You don't know what you're talking about. Indian food has nothing to do with Thai food. Their grammars are completely different." While I thought he had some interesting points, he is the most socially maladjusted nerd I've ever met. Which is saying something. He also spent most of the night taking pictures of me, which I found creepy. *sighs*

Sunday I shocked my cleaning lady by clearing my desk: based on the age of the statements on the desk, it had been about a year. Still have a lot of work to do if I'm going to take delivery of my new desk in a week or two, but I can say the place is tidier than it has been maybe ever. I'm also realizing there just isn't space for the quantity of Stuff I have: I will have to sort my Australia pictures before I can get rid of all the boxes :(

Ran-walked 3:1 intervals for half an hour, ranging from 6.1-7.2mph for the intervals, while watching football with the sound off. Mmm... testosterone.

I ate pretty clean all day: even with the carb bomb of hot cocoa for breakfast, carbs were <100g. I had the rest of my farmer's market swordfish for first lunch; a ham frittata for second lunch; and asparagus and bbq chicken for dinner. I think I was low on chlorophyll or something, bc I was loudly exclaiming on the yumminess of the greens to Dr. Froshling through dinner. Wish I'd gotten as good a start on my sleep in the new year: it was another two book night :(
