Holy shit, it sucks to hit a deer.
Yep. We were on 495 coming home from Worcester last night, when I saw a deer start running across the road from the center of the highway. I had time to shout "DEER DEER DEER!" and Jon slowed down enough so that we were going between 40 and 50 when it jumped in front of us and we hit it. It looks like the damage to the car is all cosmetic, because it was running fine and we were able to get home. I was really shaken up quite badly, as I'm sure Jon was.
The damage to the deer was, I fear, much more than cosmetic. I almost wish we had killed it, but it was nowhere to be found after we stopped.
I'm really, really sore today, and waiting for the insurance adjuster to call me.
