After a thoroughly rotten week, I headed out for Gwyntarian's monthly dance practice, hoping it would cheer me up. At first I was pleasantly shocked to see all the cars in the parking lot; usually dance practice is pretty sparse. Then I got out of my car and saw the usual Scadian suspects huddled outside of the shelterhouse, and scores of mundanes inside. It seems the shelterhouse had been double booked.
Well, as I said, I'd had a horrible week so I didn't want to just slink home. And I live five minutes away. So I invited everyone back to my small, messy, one bedroom apartment. And they came - all twelve of them. To my apartment that can hold 10 people at most. We barely fit, but did eventually figure it out (and it helped that two were children). We ate the food that various people brought, discussed SCA politics, vampires, and the relative merits of the different Star Treks. And no one complained about the mess for which I kept apologizing, saying, "This isn't a mess, it's what an SCA household should look like." And then everyone left in time for me to watch the 11:00 p.m. showing of the season finale of Caprica. ;-)
It was like an old-fashioned SCA post-revel. I really needed that. As I stated before, it was a wonderful end to a rotten week.
