~ It was a month monday since Mum and I have moved, and things have settled nicely. I still haven't organised my office or room, but every time i start, i have to find paperwork or music and it gets messy again. I've discovered a flair for cooking (I know, shock horror!) but I really need something else to crush garlic because I'm sick of my fingers smelling so damn good.
~ Bought my tickets for Europe next year! So excited. I've teamed up with 2, possibly 3 girlfriends from uni, but only one of us have actually flown overseas (and its ones first time on a place) so shes in charge...she just doesn't know it yet. It was quite good, Julia and I went down to just question prices, found a really good price so the lady put a hold on it, we went away to shop and Julia had an interview, and were just about to go back to put the deposit down when Emma rang me (i'd been trying all day) and we put her deposit down. That night Jess myspaced me, and we think she got the same flight so...we are going to Europe on a cheap flight, huzzah!
~Got uni results back. 3 D's, a C and a P1 - pretty damn happy. D's for all mused subjects and conducting (carl marks very hard, so i was like sweet!) so I can continue 3rd year conducting, which instead of a class of 30, is a class of 10. A credit for theory was pretty exciting, seeing as I'm pretty sure I failed the exam = i wasn't even close to failing the course! And a P1 for accompanying I was pretty happy with, seeing as I did pretty much no practise (my bad) and wimped out of the final exam to do something related to NHS.
~ More than likely don't have the NHS gig next year - Sonia will be taking over all the woodwind students, and I'll be shipped off to some of the primary schools in the area. It's kind of sad, I'm ranked higher than Mel at the moment in position of getting gigs in the area. Its good for me, but I feel a bit guilty cause she was there first. I told some of my year 8's I won't be there next year - two of them quit on the spot cause they had sonia in primary school...i don't know how the year 10's are going to take it, eep.
~ Had the Mount Gambier Tour with MusEd - best fun I've had in a LONG time. I swear, any other way of trying to play cheat/uno/poker, other than drunk and after midnight is just stupid. Although I never want to hear my arrangment again. Sure, I liked it, but after 8 performances in 3 days...its just flogging a dead horse. All the kids liked it though, and the teachers commented on that and seasme st so i'm like - special :D
Very dissapointed with everyone who didn't go though. 20 second year mused students - 3 of us went. But thats ok, cause I bonded with Julia who is now coming to Europe. Of course, because we estimated 24 people were coming on tour (its suppose to be second and third years), we booked 7 cabins, and a flashy coach. We ended up with 11 people and being $900 in the red. Some had a good excuse (like...our drummer kind of nearly decapitated her toes when she dropped the symbol vertically on her foot the night before we left) but there rest were just lazy. Next year will be different. *threatens*
and on a lsightly related note - DAMN COULD THOSE KIDS PLAY!
~ 16 days til i fly to sydney. It will be good seeing tess (if you are reading this, whats our marathon? cause if you are up for it, i could totally do a Dead like Me or something :P) Very exciting but also kind of annoying...
~ I've had 3 different invites from 3 different MD's in Adelaide to play in the 24hour show. For those who don't know what it is, the concept is simple - you have 24 hours to audition, reherase, and then put on the show. Only three people know what the show is, and at 8pm friday night, they release the details, and start auditions. They have until 8pm Saturday night to put the whole thing together (including sets and costumes) I would definately do it if a) i didn't already have tickets for cat empire on the saturday night and b) if i wasn't in sydney the friday night and better half of saturday. Why couldn't it have been the week after!
..i got distracted watching tv, so this will do for now
