"I got tickets to a play."

So, I'm a member of our campus' branch of Sigma Tau Delta and we host a number of literary events on campus throughout the semester, one of which is the annual Literary Ball. This year's theme is The Great Gatsby and they're putting on a small production before the ball and they sent out an e-mail putting out feelers for people within the organization who wanted to take on roles. I'M TOTALLY SIGNING UP. I'm not aiming to get the part of Daisy, but there are a number of small parts to be had ("Owl Eyes," for one) and I think it's about time that I broke out my acting hat again. Plus, I've always wanted to find a way to dress like a flapper other than on Halloween. WE SHALL SEE.

I'm also (finally) on track with the ESL classes at the International Center. Apparently the volunteer coordinator I'd been, well, coordinating with, has resigned her position and the Center has been stretched for someone to pick up the slack where she left off. As of now, it looks like classes will start either next week or the week following, which means that I've got to get back into the habit of creating lesson plans.

That, plus the graduate assistanceship, plus summer classes and I'm crazy busy for the next few months. I can't believe that I'm going to be graduating with Master's degree in December. As for what's after that? No idea. I'd like to stay on at the university in some capacity (they're short on help in the English department), and even if I could work part-time there and find supplemental employment in the interim, I'd be happy. I really don't want to leave the academic environment. I've gotten used to it and I think I excel where there are minds to be molded. I'm still of a mind to go on and get my doctorate, but until Todd finishes up his student teaching with the university here, I'm staying in place. I don't know. Things are good right now.

life - academia, life - randoms
