So these last few weeks (or maybe even since I graduated last year) I have been wondering if I have chosen the right career path. I miss student affairs, but I don't really miss being woken up by drunk students at 3 a.m. My design career doesn't seem to be going all that well and I wonder if I should take this as a sign?
Tonight I start an online portfolio class, which hopefully will give me a better indication of something. Not too sure what that something is yet, but hopefully it will figure itself out. I think in the end however, I will end up going back to school and getting my Masters- either educational based, business or design. I'm sure having a Masters won't hurt.
Granted it's a little weird that friends of mine who just graduated have gotten the jobs that they wanted, and here I am one year out, and not much to show for it (although I make a mean latte). I thought it was just me that was unsatisfied, but I was listening to NPR this morning and they had a whole hour on Generation Y (I despise that name- Millenials is much better!) The desire to do great and do it quickly seems to be a trait of our generation. The whole show (and follow-up articles) made a lot of sense and seemed to be on par with what I have been thinking/feeling lately.
We are a generation waiting for greatness and we are getting impatient!
