So unless the federal government reinstates the Good Neighbor Next Door program in Cumberland County, and I happen to find a steal (in the right neighborhood) in the next couple of months, I can only focus on saving for a down payment on a nice home that I will not be able to buy for some 12-24 months from now. Yay.
I'm just getting antsy about the future, as I'm wont to do. But I guess you never know what could happen. I actually looked at a house on Friday that I could have potentially bought if the Good Neighbor Next Door program still existed in this area. (The entire city of Millville used to be a revitalization zone and any home bought through HUD could be purchased at 50% of the listing price by teachers, officers, medics, etc.). I'm on the City's ass, and the City is on the Fed's ass to make this thing happen again.
Anyway, there was this cute HUD house in a decent neighborhood, and I could have snagged that 3 bedroom/2 bath home for $75,000 with as little as $100 down with FHA financing. But it's not really that easy, and I was kind of silly for thinking that it could be.
But then I still think, hey, you never know.
Thoughts of my own home have consumed my mind recently. I dream about it all the time.
