Who?: Kate, Jack, Ears (#9), Gerald, and ... ?
What?: Sunday Dinner
Where?: Cardiff
Why?: Because Kate channels way too much Martha Stewart.
Inside a charming,
Victorian house located in a quaint residential area inside of Cardiff, Kate was busy at work. Most of the food was done, she just had to some finishing touches to do. The scene wasn’t quite as formal as a dinner party, it was just having some of Jack’s friends over for dinner. Still, Kate took a certain bit of pride in impressing her guests.
Sangria had been set out in the sitting room, along with a simple cheese and vegetable tray. She didn’t want her guests to starve before she could get the food out. Also, she figured that Jack would probably want to talk to his guests before eating.
The food for tonight was relatively simple though prepared exceptionally well. The main course was a very tender roast beef with potatoes, carrots and celery cooked in.
Smoked gouda macaroni and cheese and green beans with cracked black pepper and sea salt were the sides. In addition, there was also buttermilk biscuits and should the guests not want to keep drinking sangria, Kate had prepared a mint iced tea. It was all very American food, actually. The only thing not made from scratch was the pie crust of the
banana cream pie.
It was while she was waiting for the roast beef to finish cooking, Kate dashed upstairs to change and grab a very quick shower. She felt she needed one after spending most of the day outside working. The backyard had the nice beginnings of a vegetable and herb garden thanks in part to their resident naval officer. She would have to figure out a way to reward him for his patience somehow. And after what happened at the Social, well she really did need to find a way to make it up to him.
After getting out of the shower, Kate dressed in a simple black, wrap dress with ballet flats. Her hair was brushed and some additional grooming was done before she went back downstairs into the kitchen. There really was more than enough food for Jack, Horatio, the Doctor and, oh she felt bad. She couldn’t remember his other friend’s name. Well, she supposed she could just fake it for now.
