I'm delighted to say I've been asked to be a correspondent for the new Urban Sketchers blog that I announced earlier this month! Founder Gabi Campanario has rounded up a wonderful group of artists and journal-keepers from all over the world, and the blog is making a splash, internationally. To say I'm excited would be an understatement!

I'm in great company. Many of my good art buddies and private correspondents are already on board--my good friends Laura Frankstone and Karen Winters, as well as Enrique Flores, Katherine Tyrrell, Nina Johansson, Joan Centallas, Liz Steel, Martha MacEvoy, and of course Gabi himself--and many, many more, all over the world. What an accomplishment Gabi pulled off!.
It's lovely to be able to share my area of the country with a larger audience--so far I'm the first Midwestern correspondent, and my contributions will start in December. I grew up here, and live perhaps 30 miles from Harry Truman's Independence, where I was born...I love it and I'm pleased to be able to show it!
The sketch is from Kansas City's Savoy Hotel, a wonderful old place now operating as a Bed and Breakfast (and DO try the breakfast, it's sumptuous and delicious!) The hotel was the site of the Joanne Woodward/Paul Newman movie, Mr. and Mrs. Bridge, and has hosted the famous and the infamous for over 100 years. It's under renovation now...we stayed in one of the rooms not yet renovated, though, and it was a delight!

We spent one night of our progressive honeymoon there (we're making it last, taking it one day at a time, just like life! So far we've had brief stays in KC, San Clemente, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Nevada. The Savoy, so far, was the most atmospheric--of course, it even has its own ghost!)
