The Vista Stinks post

Our household has just become Vista-disabled, courtesy hubby's old machine deciding it had ended its useful life.

So, off to Best Buy, where we were utterly unimpressed, followed by Circuit City, where we were moderately impressed and bought a new system for something less than an arm and a leg. Since it's not possible to get anything non-Vista in the PC line, hubby's new machine has Vista on it.

Our opinion started at "what a crock" and rapidly declined to levels no curses could reach. It is truly appalling.

Just getting hooked up to our home LAN was a major hassle, requiring me to download a Vista-capable driver and burn it to CD so that hubby could install it to run our USB wireless cards.

THEN we had the game fiasco. Hubby plays Halo. So naturally, he installs it. And immediately has to install a patch to update from the servers to play. "You must have administrator privileges to install this patch". He IS an administrator on the machine.

I search the net again, this time locate advice that the *game* has to be set to run as administrator.

Fiasco 3 begins. EVERYTHING, absolutely every bloody FART that changes the system in any way has to be confirmed. You want to fix the system time? You've got to confirm that you really DID go through the screwy menu system and decide to change the settings.

Whatever happened to "user friendly"? The only user THIS software is friendly with is Mr William Gates.
