I might've written about one of my women's ride leaders, Debbie, whose strength and giant calves I totally admire. On today's hilly ride, she was leading the group, and on one of the later hills, I had a burst of energy and cranked past a bunch of people, eventually passing her as well.
We stopped to regroup at the top of the hill, and she said with enthusaism, "Kate, you are a MONSTER!" (clearly referring to my hill-climbing thing)
And then as she pulled out of the parking lot at the end of the ride, she didn't even say my name, she just said "See you next week, Monster!"
My internal response is best captured by the words of "I, Gregory" (comic character, a kid in an insane asylum): "Ub ub ub ub! Zim!! Kiki!"
