Linds in the Hospital

Jan 20, 2009 10:40

I was awoken yesterday at 8:30am from my dad calling me from his cell phone. I didnt answer it thinking "I want to keep sleeping!" but then less than 30 seconds later I get a call from my parent's house (my parents dont get cell service at thier place, so I knew soemthing was up) I answered and my mom informed me that my cousin lindsay was in a ski accident (she recently took up extreme skiing and didnt land a jump properly apparently) and is in intensive care in Reno. She is in a medically induced coma due to bleeding and swelling in her brain. She has a broken clavicle, back, her pelvis is broken in 2 places.

My dad called his brother last night and I guess they did a CT scan and found that the swelling was going down. They were gonna do more tests today and see how she's doing. The positive thing is that her limbs are responsive, so that's a good sign that she isn't paralyzed.

She is so much more than a cousin to me. We are only 10 days apart in age. Any time we have a family function we are inseperable. Robin and I call her our Second Sister. I just hope she's ok.

I hardly slept last night so I ended up calling in to work this morning. I just was in no shape to go deal with autistic preschoolers. I didnt have anywhere NEAR the energy I would need. I am going to do some work from home if I can get my mind around it. I am still kind of in shock.

If you have time, please send good thoughts to my cousin in Reno!!
