Holidays on Ice
by David Sedaris
I'd heard and read about half (maybe two-thirds?) of these stories before in other Sedaris works. But it was just after the holidays and I sort of wanted to hang onto the spirit of the season, so this caught my eye on my To Be Read bookshelf. It was a great collection of shorts. I prefer his nonfiction to his fiction, but all the stories made me chuckle at least once. My favorites are the first, in which David relates his experiences as a Macy's elf (his version of this told on This American Life is priceless), and the last, in which we really discover what the season is about: giving (only taken WAY too far LOL).
Not my favorite of Sedaris' books, but a fun, short read and definitely a great idea to put all his holiday stories together in a collection because I know I'll be giving it to more than one person as a gift next year. heehee!
