Black's Sketchbooks: Edinburgh 1912
by Gordon Home
My Kindred Spirit sent me this book for Christmas. I adore looking at artist's sketchbooks, and this one is especially wonderful because I love Edinburgh. This is a beautiful though short collection of drawings of various buildings in the city, from Queen Mary's Bedchamber in Holyrood Palace to the castle from Princes Street with the memorial in the foreground. The sketches are amazingly detailed and a joy to look at. The only problem is that they make me long to go back to Scotland!
