The Trouble with Dragons
by Debi Gliori
Dragons are careless and destroy their world--setting fires, creating waste, killing wildlife, etc. Apparently, the trouble with dragons is that they destroy the world around them. It's pretty obvious that dragons are a metaphor for people, but I actually didn't mind the message. It's done in fun with humorous illustrations and dragon-specific examples. But it's also true that if humans are as destructive as the dragons in these books, things don't look good for the earth. So this is a nice way of showing that to kids and making us all more aware of our actions while still enjoying a nice story.
