Hiding in Plain Sight (Safe Harbor Book 2)

I downloaded this book via BookBub a few months ago because it was hockey LGBT erotica for only $1.99. That seemed like an excellent deal to me. I wish I'd thought to download the first book in the series as well. This is book 2, sadly. And evenn though the notes on the book say that each one in the series can be read alone, this one unfortunately gives spoilers about what happens in book 1. Oops! I'm still glad I read it, though. The only romances I really like are hockey romances or LGBT romances. So hockey LGBT erotica seemed perfect for me. And it was :-)

This is the story of Vlad, a Russian hockey player, and Joe (Joey) who is ex-Delta forces. Vlad is scared to come out because it's tough in the sporting world and because of the Russiaian administration being completely terrible and homophobic currently. He's also scared to admit it to himself. But when Joe sees him in a gay bar and wonders what he's doing there, then follows him out, it begins a hot and intense relationship between the two. Mixed in-between the hot sex scenes was a lot of feeling each other out. Is this a relationship? What about Joe's previous bunk buddy coming back from the war? What about Vlad's crazy away game schedule? Joe helps him learn the ins & outs of gay sex. Vlad's very lucky to have such a good teacher. Except... that both men suddenly find themselves really falling for each other... and Russia wants Vlad back for the World Championship. Drama!

This was a fun, hot read. I liked the modern/current references as well, including the recent gay-friendly "You Can Play" campaign. The pacing was a little too fast at times. Problems came up and were quickly solved. Still, the two were good together, and it was a good story. I look forward to reading the first in this series and any future ones as well.
