Accepting Me
by Jo Ramsey

This is a super short book that made me realize how much I hate reading books in the kindle app; I couldn't tell what page I was on, so the end came up far faster than I had expected. In this story, sixteen-year-old Shane doesn't understand why he isn't interested in dating. With his parents pressuring him to start dating, his little brother being girl-crazy, and his friend with a boyfriend moving in to stay with his family for the rest of the school year, Shane feels pressured and lost and unable to explain to everyone how he feels.

This is the first story I've ever read that has dealt with an asexual main character. And even though the story was short and a little repetitive at times, I'm glad I bought and read it. Yay for diversity in fiction! I enjoyed watching as Shane navigated the familiar waters of trying to figure out what his sexuality was and how to explain it to the people he loved. I cheered for him when he and his dad had their first heart-to-heart and at the end when he got acceptance from everyone. Awww. Who doesn't love a happy ending? Also, I'm kind of in love with the cover.
