Z is for Zamboni: A Hockey Alphabet
by Matt Napier
I've seen this book around a time or two and I finally got a few minutes to sit down and read it at the library on Saturday. Verdict: wonderful!
It's not just a simple ABC book; it really gives the great sport of hockey respect and full coverage--everything from its history to its rules to big stars to kids playing it for fun today. Each letter is done with a rhyme and a beautiful illustration. And then there are whole paragraphs of text in the side marjins that give more information about the item(s) listed. So you get to have fun in the vocabulary of hockey and learn a thing or two at the same time. If I ever have kids or nieces/nephews, this book's going to be required reading :-)
My favorite was C:
C is for the Coach
As well as for the Captain.
They are repsected leaders
Who can really make things happen.
