I am definitely enjoying this series. Every time I start another book, it feels like I'm suddenly privy to all of this adventure and magic going on that other mortals never get to hear about. This book centered around the labyrinth, which is so big it easily spans the United States and which is a word I cannot spell without the help of two different spell check programs.

Percy & his gang must willingly navigate the L-thing-I-can't-spell in order to find the workshop of Daedalus, who built it, before evil!Luke and his gang get there and use the secrets held within to take over the world.

While all this is going on, Percy is torn between two women (go figure): Annabeth and Rachel, who he met briefly in the last book and whose help he discovers about 80% of the way through that he needs. And Grover is not digging being underground, but there's some SUPER far-fetched theory that Pan is there somewhere and Grover has to find him or his searcher's license will be revoked. And then there's Niko, who may be working on the side of bad, trying to raise someone from the dead and taking advice from a particularly vengeful ghost. Then there are Percy's dreams of Daedalus, which fill in a lot of gaps and make you feel for the guy. So there are all these little threads floating around that get tied together, untied, and then mashed into a wibbley-wobbley little ball of stuff.

At times, it seemed kind of flat in a
Character 1: Why don't we go?
Character 2: Because someone told us to stay.
Character 1: Oh, okay.
sort of way. It's those darn prophecies that always come true, usually not in the way you think.

And while our favorite heroes made it through alive, the ending was definitely a downer. You just know the next book is not going to go well now.
