Okay I couldn't do this at work today because of screen visibility, but I did start a list :D (I must apologize to Lily Allan and Sister Hazel for leaving them out!)
1) Soul Power by Barry Kingston and the Screaming Souls.
I used to go to god camp every summer as a kid and Barry would put on a concert every wednesday evening. He was amazing, I am still in touch with him, and Soul Power was my Freebird. Kind of brings a tear to my eye thinking back, although I don't identify with the religion really anymore, I still miss those people. This song is off the album that he made solo like 12 years ago now though, so it does have a 90's feel.
But since I can't find a sample of Soul Power, here is another song by Barry, Padlock Jodie! (it makes me sad to watch that, Barry's awesome drummer Jason is no longer with his band! D:)
2) Marijuana by Brian Robbins Band
I don't smoke it anymore but I just love this song. So clever, so catchy, so cute! They play it like it's a School House Rock or something :)
3) Into the Ocean by Blue October
I don't like very many of their songs, this and Calling You I love, this one song really spoke to me at one point a year or two ago when I was really down. It still does, sometimes I feel like I'm swimming in jello.
3) One Day by Polly Paulusma
I found this girl one day randomly when bored surfing iTunes, I love her voice and *every single song* she has ever sang. Below is a kind of crappy live version, but you can still hear how awesome her voice is.
4) Breakdown by Jack Johnson
One of my most favorite songs of all time.
5) Marti's Last Stand by Enter the Haggis
I'm usually not into the weird 90s/80s flute instrumentals, but I love love love this song. Whenever I am angry I blast this song and sing Marty's parts with all my rage and anger!
6) If I should Fall From Grace with God by the Pogues
Okay I know every single Irish band evar has done this song and they all rock, so I had to decide between the Pogue's version and Sweet Colleen's version. Love the Pogues, love this song.
7) Scenes From An Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel
Man it was hard to find a copy of this song in Not-Live, Not-Crappy. I love this song so so so much and have since I was like 15. It starts slow but gets really exciting around 1:40.
8) Ooh La La by the Young Dubliners
I tend to listen to this on the bus a lot, I don't know why! Poor Young Dubliners, this song is not one of their THREE on YouTube D: This link should play it, I hope.
9) Bang Bang by Dispatch
I can't do a top 10 and leave Dispatch out, sorry, just not happening! I was going to perform this song with Adam Boucher at Ground Zero (club at RPI), but never got the chance. I wish Dispatch didn't break up :(
10) The Night that Paddy Murphy Died by Great Big Sea
Possibly my most favorite song of all time? I've played it on the jukebox at the Ruck probably 100 times now, so fun to sing along with drunk! And my brothers love it just as much as me too :D
