Is it possible to make a click-to-start gif image for a website?

I can't use flash or CSS mind you, it's all basic html and graphics. (not because I don't know how, our hosting service-tool doesn't allow it)

I added the screenshots to this document today at work and want to make it so the installation animation doesn't start until you click on

Yes, it's possible. No, it's not possible with a .gif alone. You'd need to use a wee bit of JavaScript, something along the lines of
