When the incessant knocking refused to stop, Jeff Pleasant reluctantly dragged himself out of bed to answer the front door. He stifled a yawn as he pointed out that it wasn't even nine o'clock on a Saturday morning.
"Yeah," John replied sheepishly, "sorry about that. I was hoping to speak to Willow."
"I'll tell her you're here," he said eventually, leaving the door open as an invitation for John to come in as he went to wake his girlfriend. Both men were pretty awkward with each other. Not only because Jeff was dating John's sister, but because of his history with John's now fiancé Izzy.
After a stream of expletives, Willow appeared in her pyjamas, "how are you even awake?"
"Nerves."
"Yes, but why am I suffering?" she asked, her eyes still adjusting to being awake. It was a moment before she noticed, "and what in Wright's name happened to your hair?"
"At some point last night it was decided I needed a trim," John grimaced.
"Your bucks party is not the time or place for a new haircut," Willow commented dryly.
"Yes, well, it's a shame you weren't there last night to inform our brothers of that."
"Speak for yourself," she laughed, "I was more than happy where I was. There were cocktails, and a stripper."
"Izzy had a stripper? I didn't get a stripper."
"But she didn't get to have her hair massacred by a drunk with scissors," she offered.
John groaned.
"Come on, I'm sure I have some gel or something," she assured him, determined to make her brother at least somewhat presentable for his wedding that afternoon.
