Newhaven: Week Seven - The Maxwell-Spencer Family

Maybe it was the age difference, but Coco didn’t feel she had much to talk about with her younger sisters. It seemed a love of learning was the only thing the sisters had in common.

Ebony and Ivory on the other hand spent every moment they could in each other’s company.

In fact it seemed the only time they were separated was when they were tucked into bed.

Then again Coco was currently preoccupied, arguing with her father about whether she was ready for him to introduce her to the magical arts she knew she had inherited a talent for.

She eventually won the argument. Although she made it clear she intended to take a more middle ground approach to magic than her father did.

Leo and Dion were taking advantage of their free time as they made the most of the paid vacation time they had both accrued over the years. They both agreed when you lived in a place as tropical as Newhaven, you didn’t need to travel to Twikkii Island.

The untraditional family came together for the twins’ birthdays.

Ebony grew into a stunning young woman, who as well as wanting to dedicate her life to study like her mother and sister Coco, wanted a life full of friendships.

It wasn’t long before she declared her lifetime wish was to reach the top of the music industry.

Also like her sister Coco, she had inherited her father’s talent for the magical arts.

Coco was less than impressed that her father didn’t hesitate to initiate Ebony like he did with her. Then again Ebony had ten nice points whilst Coco had one.

Ivory on the other hand didn’t grow into her features as well as her twin nor did she inherit any magical ability. While learning was still a passion, she knew her main aim in life was to be surrounded by family. A family that she hoped, one day, would include six grandchildren.

While she may not have been as nice or traditionally beautiful as her twin, she was confident her determination would see her goals come to fruition.

Not long after the twins’ birthdays, and after gaining a position with her father and ‘uncles’ in the gaming career, Coco made a business proposition to her mother. She knew the family had the funds available to start a business and suggested they build a venue with arcade games, a pool table and a bar.

Knowing there was nothing else like it in Newhaven, Kendal thought it was a wonderful idea. Soon the two were making plans for their entertainment venue.

They played around with names before settling on The Dungeon, reflecting their interior which was built around the tribal inspired pinball machine that Clyde, Leo, Dion and Coco had all brought home as a reward from their gaming careers.

Aside from the ‘Tribal Flame a la Coconut Pinball’ machines, the venue also had a pool table and dart board.

Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments were served at the bar.

While a stage was also set up for the entertainment of patrons. The availability of a venue with music instruments was highly popular and soon established an opening for someone to enter the music career.

The success of the business was, understandably, overshadowed by the passing of Clyde who was none too happy to leave his family.

Losing Clyde was devastating, but as Kendal explained to her concerned friends who rang, they were doing okay by taking each day as it came.

Leo and Dion found it hard to believe the friend they had moved to Newhaven with was gone. It made them only more determined to make the most of everyday.

Clyde Darcy was one the original founders of Newhaven. Joining his friend Dion and Dion’s partner Leo, he hoped Newhaven would be an accepting place that allowed him to practice magic.

It was, but that didn’t pay the bills, and as such he followed his housemates into a career in gaming. Although he ended up reaching the pinnacle of this career, his aim in life had always been to have a family. Meeting his wife Kendal was the highlight of his life, only topped by the births of his three daughters, Coco, Ebony and Ivory.
