Notes on Summer Television as the Leaves Start to Fall and It Becomes Clear I've Done Nothing But Watch TV This Summer.

1. I got obsessed with Treasure Hunters on NBC though it was consistently rated behind reruns on CBS, ABC and Fox. The finale received only 3.6 which probably means it's not coming back. boo. I blame Laird Macintosh THE WORST HOST EVER. his voice is totally boring and he has absolutely no personality. I wish Air Force had won.

2. Just watched Bourdain in Beirut - a "very special" episode of Anthony Bourdain's (author of Kitchen Confidential) travel/food show on the travel channel. he and his crew had been in beirut when hezbollah kidnapped and killed the Israeli soldiers and they were stuck there until they were evacuated with other Americans by the marines. it definitely deserves an emmy nom that it probably won't get. Their journey from the restaurants and clubs of Beirut the first night the bombs fell to being evacuated from their hotel by a mysterious CIA style security guard (who also gave them blod clotters in case they got shot and kidnapped) and then finally connecting with the Marines over tuna noodle casserole was fantastic and was much more interesting and insightful than other television I've seen on this war. His cameras capture the looks of horror, embarassment, resignation and definace on his Lebanese friends faces and it was incredible compelling.

3. LOVED Work Out! Mimi is EVIL! I was in a musical with Jesse! I hope this show come back!

4.The Hills. OMG Lauren is an idiot and Jason is an ugly fatburger. I've never known a woman who is stupid enough to turn down a free trip to Paris in order to stay in a Malibu beach house with a lame-o but thank god MTV has because it makes me realize I'm smart!

5. Supernova, yes I've watched it. I can't help it...there's nothing else on in that time slot! It is also surprisingly low rated considering the Gilby Clarke factor. i noticed last night he has an adorable French bulldog. Cute! Brooke Burke is a robot. I don't care who wins. I like seeing their outfits. The End.

6. Hell's Kitchen.I love Gordon Ramsey, although I prefer his BBC shows because I suspect they're not telling him to swear constantly as he does on Hell's Kitchen. Virginia was insane, but I think he did want to bone her, or her palate. I'm glad Heather won, she was the most deserving.

7. Project Runway. Ok this doesn't really count as summer tv since it's also on in the fall but GOD DAMN this show is good. Tim Gunn's podcasts are priceless. I now love him more than Heidi Klum. Jeffrey's an a-hole but he should have won the recyclable challenge and Vincent should have gone home. When he kept talking about how his dress got him off AND how it made him think of his daughter I got really creeped out.

8. Feasting on Asphalt. There's something about the Food Channel that is SO comforting like.......food! Alton Brown really irritated me at first, Good Eats was so frenetic and he's such a know it all and then i realized he really DOES know it all and I started to love him. then he did feasting on Asphalt which is him driving cross country on a motorcycle and eating road food along the way. it's great. They keep finding all these old fashioned places like tea rooms and bad ass bbq and since theiron the road it has none of the slickness that most Food network shows have. Also the food always looks AMAZING.

Tonight I will be watching Rock Star: Supernova and Project Runway.
