Tonight I realized how amazing it would be to have American friends. Someone gave me a ride home from Ludgate Circus and I felt like a queen. We talked about In Living Color and it was like being... insulated from being an ex-pat, an emigre.
I also got my college transcript through the post, and realized that I could have done so much better if I'd pushed myself harder. My GPA increased significantly when I carried over 20 credits. It should, theoretically, decrease. I wish I'd carried on taking the Geography of Capital, and I wish I'd done better in high school. I wish I was better. I know, now, that I'll do brilliantly in my Master's, but I also know that I wish in my heart of hearts I was doing a Master's in something else, something theoretical and political, not practical and library-oriented. But I'm happy doing that, I really am.
Tonight was my sister-in-law's 30th birthday celebrations, and the first night I've been drunk on a school night since I started work. Here's to having a better time than you thought you would.
