Here's a story I wrote a while ago.
Title: Girls night in.
Pairing: Kate/Abby obviously
Rating: Pg 13
Disclaimer: Saving up to buy Abby but at the moment they still belong to DPB.
Summary: what happened after the boys left in red cell.

“Kate you man the phones, McGee and Tony with me.” Gibbs ordered as he left. Kate just stood as Abby watched her become frustrated.
“What, boys night out.” Kate replied to Abby trying not to sound as immature as she felt being rejected.
“Which means, girls night in. Transfer your phones to my lab.” Abby told her immediately causing her to start pushing buttons on the phones. As she was done she grabbed Abby’s hand and they took off to the elevator.
As they reached the lab they sat at Abby’s desk.
“Chinese?” Abby asked Kate as she continued fidgeting with the contents of her desk.
“Sure.” Kate replied. She was feeling unsure with herself at that time as she had had feelings for Abby for some time and never expressed them. She didn’t even realized she had grabbed Abby’s hand until well after she’d already done it. Kate sat there quietly trying to decide whether or not Abby had reacted to her subtle advance. As she watched Abby work she was reminded of the time they worked together on evidence which was one of her first days at NCIS.
“You packing more than meets the eye?” Abby had asked her ending with what she interpreted as a flirtatious grin.
“Those your only tattoos?” Kate had countered trying to find out more about this woman that so intrigued her.
“You show me yours, I’ll show you mine.” Abby replied again ending with that stunning smile. Kate was smitten from that day on and hoped that Abby felt the same but was sure she didn’t.
“Kate, Earth to Kate.” Abby said getting close to Kate as she realized that she had been obviously distracted. Kate snapped out of her memory and tried to compose herself again despite Abby being so in her personal space.
“Sorry, what were you saying?” Kate tried as she sat up properly in her chair trying to act normally.
“I just wanted to know what you wanted from the Chinese food menu. What were you thinking about that had you so distracted?” Abby inquired a she moved over to the phone on her desk.
“Actually I was thinking about the first time we worked together.” Kate said finally deciding it was safe to tell Abby that truth.
“That’s cool. I was actually thinking about that before. Guess it must be De ja’ vu, huh?” Abby asked getting very excited over the fact that they had both had the same thought.
“Yeah. That was so much fun. I mean working with the forensics is so cool.” Kate aid trying to cover her comment to sound less suspect.
“I had no idea you were so into forensics. I knew you liked it but not that much. Come help me run this test.” Abby offered and Kate had to stop herself from running over. She grabbed the spare lab coat herself this time knowing the procedure now from lat time. As she put it on she could smell Abby’s distinct perfume on it. It smelled like gun powder but wasn’t terribly overpowering. As she approached Abby she looked at the evidence that Abby had in her hand.
“What’s that, Abs” Kate asked trying to the evidence.
“Let’s find out.” Abby quipped as she picked up two pairs of gloves and lead Kate over to the desk where her electron microscope was set up. She placed the sample under the lens and focused the piece until it was clear. Without putting it up on the screen Abby looked at the sample through the eyepiece.
“White cotton fiber.” Abby identified triumphantly. “Here, look.” she offered to cope to Kate standing only just out of the way. Kate looked into the eyepiece impressed at Abby’s identification from the vague detail. She was also very aware of the only slight degree of separation between herself and the lab-tech. The next thoughts that seemed to plague her mind where those deciding whether or not to make a move. She couldn’t predict Abby’s reaction and didn’t want to risk another friend over a silly hormonally biased move. She didn’t feel she could cope going through that again. As the close proximity of the two woman stated to become awkward, even though neither was so inclined to move. Kate decided to seize the opportunity. She moved slightly forward to invade Abby’s personal space. With the rest of the courage she had summoned in the last few seconds, she closed the distance between herself and Abby in a passionate kiss. Kate couldn’t open her eyes in the fear that either she would wake up and none of this would be true or that she would have made the wrong move and indivertibly just lost a close friend or made things incredibly tense between them in the future. As the amazing kiss, which Kate realized that Abby had participated in, ended Kate still couldn’t bring herself to open her eyes.
“Wow, I certainly didn’t expect that. Kate, what’s the matter?” Abby asked genuinely concerned and a little short of breath at the same time. The tone of Abby’s voice was one that Kate couldn’t identify having not heard it yet. Kate tried to muster courage to open her eyes and face the reality of what she had just done. She just didn’t want to see that disappointment in Abby’s eyes that she had seen from the last friend she had taken the chance with and done that.
“Nothing.” Kate lied.
“Then why are your eyes clenched shut like you just saw a ghost?” Abby joked. Kate was a little relieved at the usual tone in Abby’s voice that had returned that was very familiar. Kate slowly opened her yes and looked at Abby expectantly. Kate could see something Abby’s eyes that she hadn’t seen before. She interpreted that as a bad thing.
“Abs, I am so sorry. I don’t know what came over me.” Kate blurted out quickly hoping to be able to repair the damage this time.
“You hear anyone complaining? I just was a little surprised especially because I never got the gay vibe off you.” Abby said amusing Kate.
“I didn’t get it off you either to be honest. Especially with all that stuff with McGee.” Kate admitted jealousy evident in her voice.
“Oh that. McGee knows that I’m bisexual and was okay with it. I just lost interest when a certain ex-secret service agent entered my life.” Abby admitted unable to believe that spewed out of her mouth.
“So you don’t hate me now?” Kate asked hopefully feeling confident this was going to be different.
“After that kiss? Are you insane?” Abby joked.
“Seriously? So if I was a lousy kisser…?” Kate started.
“How can a woman who is so confident in everything she does be so nervous in romance.” Abby teased.
“I don’t know I just get so… terrified and have had bad experiences in the past and.. I didn’t want that to happen again…” Kate fumbled around the words. She was cut off by Abby’s lips on hers again both enjoying the kiss a lot more this time not being caught off guard or terrified when it happened. It was a lot slower and loving this time.
“Damn!” Tony interrupted.
“We just wanted to say we’re back so if you wanted to leave you could.” Gibbs started sounding just as surprised as Tony and far from as excited as Tony.
“Guess you’d rather stay here now.” Tony mused as he didn’t dare take his eyes off the girls and thus missing the glare he was receiving from Gibbs.
“We didn’t hear you come in.” Abby stuttered pulling away from Kate as much as possible.
“Obviously.” Tony smiled at them.
“Tony! Go home!” Gibbs yelled ready to add a smack to the head at any second knowing he would get a protest.
“But…” Tony complained. He was too intrigued now.
“NOW!” Gibbs yelled adding a smack for good measure. Tony nearly ran into the wall as he made his way out the door.
“You aren’t both agents and I couldn’t say anything about whatever you had with McGee so rule 12 doesn’t really apply. What I can say is that if this gets in the way of your work, in any way..” Gibbs warned.
“It wont.” Abby quickly said adding a charming smile for safety. Gibbs just shook his head as he left the lab. What a day this had turned out to be.
