Sunday we woke early to pack the car and drive to Dunbar harbour on the East Coast of Scotland to dive the wreck of the Uxx .... no one could clearly tell us what it was. Having had a night out with freinds before I was a little apprehensive about the dive ..that plus the fact that it was a 40m+ dive and I haven't been in the water since Feb. That said we kitted up well and took a giant stride off the lift platform into the water. The descent wasn't too swift but my ears were sticky and it took me 30+ meters to stop clearing. Suddenly below us we spied the anenomies that were scattered across the Conning tower. After a quick kit check we headed off to the bow and marvelled at the hydroplanes and how lovely the bow structure looked. We then worked our way back taking in the conning tower with a lookout porthole complete with intact glass and the rear gun. It was a short dive as we hadn't much bottom time but it's really got me in the mood for Scapa next month.
Second dive was a drift with tons of Lobsters, really juvenille squat lobsters, pipe fish and prawns - cool.
We also talked to the Skipper about doing a recreational Trimix course so I'm ging to look into that for the future.
