Because I am ready to admit that I am on steroids. < /Mark McGwire reference for those in the US following baseball "news">
Got
the injection on Monday morning, enjoyed about 10 minutes of pain-free life, then the lidocaine wore off and I went right back to the same old level of pain.
*sigh*
I had been told not to take any anti-inflammatory meds for five (5!) days before the injection, which naturally meant I wound up with a three-day migraine that became severe enough for to Leading Man to want to take me to the hospital Friday night. Haven't had one that bad in several years. I finally broke down and took the migraine pills, praying that they wouldn't mess up the steroid injection. As you can tell from the first paragraph, they didn't. Yay! Ugly migraine, though. >:P
No difference in my pain level yesterday, but since all the restrictions on taking drugs were lifted after my injection, I figured I'd go back to the prescription pain pills. I am happy to report that -- at the moment -- I'm only in slight discomfort. Yay!!! I can actually go down the stairs! I can sit for more than 1/2 an hour! I could even cook dinner, if my family wanted (but they don't)!
I don't know if the current relief is long-term or temporary, or if it's from the injection finally kicking in or going back on pain meds, but I don't really care. I am able to function and I'm no longer the unbalanced emotional shrew I've been for the past several months. Huzzah!
Next up: surgical consultation on Tuesday. I am so excited that it's probably unhealthy, but the idea of resolving this makes me giddy. :DDDD
