I'm exhausted. That seems to be my new normal. Which means, I think, I need to quit complaining and get used to it. I have been overdoing just a little lately -- we had a party to celebrate the kitchen (had a blast and all the girls helped get things cleaned up beforehand!), learning to quilt (making a table runner. Knowing how to actually fold and cut the material effeciently is still a mystery, but the sewing's going great), work's been unusually hectic (and my best friend at the office will be moving out of state as soon as their house sells), getting ready to head to Women of Faith with two of my dear friends who've moved from here, mowing our lawn and a vacationing neighbor's, and we've been getting the girls ready to start school next week. It's only a little more than usual; still, I feel wiped out.

I think I also need to get used to being in a certain amount of pain. I've long had problems with my hips, having been diagnosed with everthing from bursitis to iliotibial band syndrome to muscle spasms in my gluteus maximus. The various treatments have occasionally helped (steriods injected into the tendon, physical therapy, etc.), but nothing seems to fix the problem. At 4:00 a.m. this morning my right hip woke me up by pretening to be harboring a curling iron set on "Blowtorch". I apparently have a starring role in "When Good Hips Go Bad", episode 17: "Burn, Tendon, Burn."

In happier news, I love, Love, LOVE the new kitchen! SO much more storage space it's not even funny. The flooring doesn't have holes, cracks and loose sections any more! The countertops actually stay on the countertop! The cabinet doors close -- and stay that way! The pantry isn't crammed to overflowing and I still have empty space in some of my cabinets! The oven cooks -- and at the same rate each time we use it! And the 5-burner gas cooktop? ♥! I can't wait for the weather to cool down a bit so I can really start firing this kitchen up big time!

All right, back to the alternating heating pad/ice pack for me. As you were....
