Red Rock Canyon

The day started off pretty cool at 48 degrees and very sunny.  I was looking forward to the temperatures going into the 70’s for the hike into Red Rock Canyon.

Before we went though  we had to do some errands in the same area.  They wanted to meet with their attorney for stuff.  So I kept myself busy.  I went to a  coffee shop called Leone  Cafe and had breakfast. It was quite a busy place and I got an egg white Asparagus Omelet with a salad. I thought it was strange to include a salad with breakfast but what do I know the other options were things I couldn’t have.  I had coffee with it.  I sat out on the patio and did some people watching.  The meal came to $12. 99.  It was still a bit cool but nice.

IF you need to go to a public restroom you will need to go down the street into another building.  Where the Lawyer’s office is located.  I learned that this Business center that included a wide range of stores and restaurants and offices all had an underground parking facility that you could access from any location.

I was thoroughly pleased to see a bakery called CupKates by Kate.  Just what I need!!!   I showed great restraint by not going in the store but I did take a picture of it!!!

When my friends finished their errand we met up at the cafe and they had a late morning breakfast.  We chatted about stuff and then headed to Red Rock Canyon.

Red Rock Canyon is 20 miles west of Summerlin. It is a Nature Conservatory and has many vistas and things to do.  OF course you can pay for the day or for a pass which allows you many things.  We attempted one of the trails and couldn't do it.  Some of the trails were widespread and all over the place.  We decided to drive the scenic loop and look around that way.  So my attempts at the hikes were not fulfilled.  Neither was my daily steps goal.  I did get to see a couple of people try to round up two goats which was very cool.

The Visitors Center is hosting a Naturalization Ceremony tomorrow and anyone could attend.  We have made other plans but it would have been very cool.  It was to be held in their outdoor amphitheater

When we finished the scenic drive we went back into the Visitors center to look around.  There were so many nice things from T-shirts, books, clothings and Media .  WE then went to a late lunch.

It was at Sweet Tomatoes.  A Salad bar that was very interesting you could only go once so you had to fill up on what you wanted.  There were 8 fresh soups and chili made daily.  They had breads, desserts, and fruit.  The price is fairly reasonable $9.

We headed out to Albertson’s to get some snacks for tonight’s Mexican Train at their friend J’s home.  She is in a Senior Living complex that’s very beautiful.  She has a cute dog named Petunia and loves attention.  We played until 10.  We chatted for a bit before going home.

As we were driving home the night time views were just as beautiful.  You could see the Las Vegas Strip from where we were.  It was awesome.

We got home about 11 and I got ready for bed.  We had to be up by 9 in the morning for the Development’s neighborhood yard sale.
