So we made it to DC. Leaving Florida was crazy. The last few weeks with all the good byes and packing were physically and emotionally exhausting, but I felt a huge sense of relief when we got in my sister's car to go to the airport. I'm going to miss so many people and things about our life there, but this is going to be great too and I'm 100 % here now.
I actually really like the house. It's a lot smaller than our old one, but I grew up in England and really appreciate the charm of older houses, even the small rooms and creaky floorboards they come with. Mike's not so sure. He's a Florida boy through and through and likes lots of space and big rooms, but I've told him he can have free reign with the basement here so hopefully he will keep his crap down there!
Oh and our furniture isn't here yet, so it's likely I won't be feeling so lovey dovey about everything when I'm trying to find room for all our junk!
The boys are doing great. Dylan had a lot of periods of being sad the week before we left, saying he was going to miss random things, but he's been great since we got here. We are going to check out what I think will be his school this afternoon and they have a week left of camp next week which he says he wants to go to. That would help me a lot with my unpacking!
And Max is doing well too. He's scooting around and sleeping much better after getting over his double ear infection and back to back colds the last few weeks.
I have one big question though. Tall to me about black out shades. We didn't need them at our old house because we had plantation shutters in all the rooms, but here they just have flimsy blinds and it gets light so much earlier (like 5 am) so Dylan has been waking up then which doesn't fly. Where do you get them from? Are there cheap options since we are only going to be here a year or so?
And a few pictures for kicks. All from Instagram, so sorry to all of you who follow me on there.
