Doll Collection

When I was a kid I believe my Aunt started giving me display dolls for my birthday. I have no idea who started it, or when. Though being a young girl for Birthday's and Christmas I would get all sorts of Doll's as gifts.Sadly they haven't really been displayed at all since shortly after my 17th Birthday and we moved to Colorado. They pretty much have been hidden in boxes. In one apartment I had them out, but you couldn't really see them all.

Well on Saturday Aaron and I were out scouting garage sales and found some awesome shelves. They're simple but the don't stop at ten inches high like a lot of units tend to. So we put them together and voila! My collection is finally on display.

We have a Holiday Barbie I got in the last few years on clearance at Wal-Mart. We also have a Vintage doll that has been handed down to me from my Mother that she had as a child.

We have some a Build-A-Bear white Tiger and a BAB White Cat along with the reproduction the Barbie and the Rockers from 1985 (I totally had the original as a kid), Peach Pretty Barbie which is an original and has never been removed from her box, even though I was always dying to play with her. The CU Barbie is actually something Aaron bought since he is a CU alum again she has never been removed from her box either.

More Barbies! LOL
We have Lavendar Looks, Pink Jubilee were also collectable ones I received as a child. Pink Jubilee was removed from her box because I didn't know I wasn't suppose to play with her. I think I opened her with my friend Nina and my Mom came in like a minute later and FREAKED out. I had 2 Brenda doll's as a kid, one I played with and this one still in the box, I got 2 one Christmas so this one was just a display. I have 2 tree Trimming Barbies, cause I bought myself 2. One to stay in the box and one to play with...I was 19 at the time. The Halloween one I got about 2 years ago at Rite-Aid. She looked so cool I couldn't resit her.

Porcelain Dolls, I honestly don't really remember where I got most of these from. These are on the top shelf though of the larger unit. The one in the pink outfit with the braids is an August doll (since I'm an august baby).

Storybook Dolls! I've got Little Bo Peep, Cinderella, a Clown and Little Red Riding Hood all hanging out with a Ginny Doll and a couple of Breyer Horses. My older cousins Wayne and Russel worked at the Breyer Factory for a little while when I was a kid, right around the time my friends and I were obsessing over horses. I blame my friend Nina's older sister for really spuring that on with us. Pretty much if she thought something was cool, the rest of us did to.

This is my pop culture shelf. Yes that is a Lance Bass doll, my Dad and step-mom got it for me cause as any girl in the late 90's early 00's I was obsessed with 'N SYNC and BSB. I also have a Kimber doll from the JEM series, I also have a JEM doll, but she is in major need of clothing. Aaron is currently trying to find out what kind of battery she needs to her earrings will flash. I also have a Blueberry Muffin doll from the strawberry shortcake series, along with the Jack Doll from lost! That one is so awesome and I didn't expect it at all when my brother got it for my birthday. I also have a Jessie Spano doll from the SBTB series, but she needs some clothing as well.

These are dolls my Grandmother made for me. She crocheted the outfits and put the dolls together.

This is the international shelf...plus the New Orleans doll that normally would hang around the fairytale gals. I've got dolls here from all over.
The one with the yellow shirt and flat face is from Turkey I believe. The one next to it is from Norway followed by Switzerland and then England. Next we have one from I believe Holland and finally a bullfighter from Spin. All of the international dolls were given to me by my Grandfather and Grandmother on my Dad's side.

I am working on building a new Barbie Dream House so that I can display some of my other dolls and a lot of the furniture I still have. Though I plan to paint and redecorate ALL of the furniture because the plastic is so faded they're not really pink more of a salmon color. I'm thinking of doing the house in silver and purple tones since I have a lot of Silver spray paint and some purple paint.
