May Reads

Jun 07, 2011 08:50

In May I got a ton of reading done! The first one I'm adding to the list today is one I forgot about for April. But as you all know things were still kind of crazy since we were in the middle of getting unpacked. Which we're mostly done with, have to get some projects done first ya know refinishing a vanity that has probably 100 years worth of paint on it. *eek!*

Oh yeah, book list.

25.) The Indigo Notebook
A young girl whose mother moves them around each year to a different country, and longs to have a normal life in America instead.

Okay this one was interesting I liked it, and I think a sequel is available.  I haven't found it yet but the local bookstore was actually pretty bad. The whole bookstore part was about maybe 500 Sq Feet. So I'll have to go on to Amazon.com for most of my reading needs.

26.) Something Borrowed
Okay so I seriously only read this book cause I wanted to see the movie, which I only wanted to see cause a certain former All My Children actor was in it. So yeah the book, it was good. It felt like it took me longer to read it then it should have. Something about it just dragged. Oh wait I know what it was, the secret, the whole damn affair dragged on for much longer then it would have. A few of the things I was waiting to see in the book and how they would play on the big screen didn't even happen. Sad right?! It was good, I'm not anxious to go off and read the sequel, at least not yet. BTW if you see the movie watch all of the credits they tossed in a final scene at the end which is just hilarious.

27.) We'll Always Have Summer
The final book in Jenny Han's summer series. Belly is a college student now, and is dating Jeremiah. But of course that means nothing cause she's really still in love with Conrad. She and Conrad both end up at the summer house and spend most of the time fighting and what not. I love that we got a little bit inside of Conrad's head and not just Belly's. Its the perfect end to the series is all I'm saying. I recommend to anyone to go get all three books, a nice chair to lounge in and start reading. I would say to go outside and enjoy reading it, however the heat here won't allow for me to do that and I would just be jealous if ya'll could. ;)

28.) BSC Supper Special #3 Baby-sitters' Winter Vacation
So apparently all of Stoneybrook Middle School gets to go to this ski lodge in Vermont for a whole week each year. The good thing about this being a super special is we get all the girls POV's on stuff and not just one. So if you say are like me and want to just smack Mallory around when she's the main character, you don't have to worry too much about that. Anyway so apparently SMS has this big winter war thing, which of course Kristy is in charge or and the kids are divivded into two teams and when kristy's team doesn't start out well she gets all bitchy with people. Oh and they also help rescue some like first graders or are they third graders? Meh, who cares. Oh yeah Mary-Anne misses Logan cause somehow his family ended up going to Aruba that same week! It was kinda boring but it was nice to have a change from a regular BSC book.

29.) Then Again, Maybe I Won't
This is one of those "naughty" Judy Blume books that ya know brifely mentions something so it must be pure evil (like Tiger Eyes which was really tame but ya know those book banners). Anyways it was good, a quick read. Mainly I read it cause I want to read everything Judy Blume I can get my hands on and I've got a lot of her stuff done. I really think I have left is re-reading a few things I read when I was younger, and to read her latest novel Sisters.

30.) Blubber
Another Judy Blume book, I did want to smack the main character throughout for some of the stuff she came up with. But then I realized this really is how girls think when they're that age. At least I knew I sort of did. But also the social circles in my grade school days were a bit different. Heck several of the girls are still BFF's these days (I've seen the facebook pictures to prove it).

31.) Jenna & Jonah's Fauxmance
This was a cute little YA book about 2 actors on a family channel type of series that the paparazzi can't get enough of, and who all the fans think are in love. But they really can't stand each other. Each chapter goes back and fourth from each of them as they come to terms with their own identities.

So woo Hoo! We're getting up in numbers. To be where I really would like to though I would have to read 19 books by the end of the month. Eek! But I do have 2 kindle books i'm in the middle of, and couple I've already finished this month (okay they were SVH books but still). Though I'm also trying to finish writing my own book and get the published. So much to do, so little time I guess.
