Fire on the Mountains
There are some horrific fires happening in Cape Town right now, some of the worst in many years, started by arsehole smokers who throw their ends into the tinder dry bush that grows on the mountains near the roads.
My cousins B&B and Home are right next to the final barrier road that is the only thing stopping the inferno (And I do not exaggerate) from engulfing an entire neighbourhood.
Most of the 12 Apostles and the entire back of Table Mountain is now ash, whole ecosystems are destroyed. Thankfully the fynbos does well from fire but the animals who used to be able to escape are now cut off by houses and are trapped.
I am really fucking worried that my cousins home is going to go up in flames in the next hour or so.....hoping for a very sudden wind change...*begs the universe*
