Am I bad person that it didn't click until I read something an hour or so ago that reminded me today marks 6 months since the heart of our city was devastated and people's lives were shattered once again?
Of course, we were struck by a 4.2 this morning just to remind us of what we've come to terms with over the last 11 months. Ever since Saturday morning's wee reminder people have been on edge. Its that whole things settled down, we let our guard down and bam mother nature gave us a reminder of what we were dreading situation.
The place to see. It's Canterbury. It's where I want to be.
Chorus 1:
Sing a song for canterbury, let your voices ring.
Let your spirits rise up, let me hear the children sing.
Sing a song for canterbury, show that you belong.
Open up your hearts and sing a song.
Mountains of the Southern Alps stand tall across the Plains.
Braided rivers flow down to the South Pacific Ocean.
The beauty of the coastline and the open countryside.
A friendly smile, a welcome hand is Canterbury Pride.
Chorus 2:
Sing a song for canterbury, sing in harmony.
Listen to the music from the mountains to the sea.
Sing a song for canterbury, show that you belong.
Open up your hearts and sing a song.
City people in the town, the farmers on the land.
Working for each other, going forward hand in hand.
The first four ships all sailed away, left pioneers to work and play.
With vision for the future and the power to lead the way.
Chorus 1:
Sing a song for canterbury, let your voices ring.
Let your spirits rise up, let me hear the children sing.
Sing a song for canterbury, show that you belong.
Open up your hearts and sing a song.
Kai mau ki ka korero o Waitaha
Hei hapaitia to wairua i ka wa whakatipu
Kai mau ki ta tikaka o Waitaha
Ka Aroha te takata
Chorus 2:
Sing a song for canterbury, sing in harmony.
Listen to the music from the mountains to the sea.
Sing a song for canterbury, show that you belong.
Open up your hearts and sing a song.
Its the little things that I've been noticing lately. Like for example, I don't put my cell phone near a cup that's on a table (shakes = liquid spilling), I mentally check buildings when I enter them for the quickest or safest spot to get to in an earthquake. Our freezer is stocked with ice/bottles of water that are frozen so that should we lose power, the ice will help insulate and keep anything in there cool until we can eat it.
We've hit over 4000 shakes in the last 6 months alone.
