Collide - any questions?

While I'm putting off working on the next part of Collide, I was wondering if you had any questions concerning the universe/characters/how I came up with things/etc. I won't answer questions on what's going to happen next (mainly because the answer is 'a lot') but I will answer questions like 'is such-and-such significant?' or possibly 'why did you ( Read more... )

ah, a good question. I haven't given him too much thought although he keeps flittering through my mind for different roles. Someone asked if I was going to reveal who the stalker was and I thought to myself, 'wouldn't that be great if after the war Snape just went crazy and started stalking Sirius?' and then I thought, 'or not.'

I'm going to go with Azkaban on this one for a couple reasons:
Doesn't Snape go to Dumbledore only when he finds out about the plot against the Potters? In the case of canon they're married and already have Harry but in my AU, Voldemort might not have even been after them because there is no Prophecy involving Harry since Harry isn't born yet(I suppose there could still be a Prophecy referring to Neville but I'm not even going to go there). So, one must wonder if Snape would have gone to Dumbledore at all... In any case, I'm saying he's still spending some time there, though probably not life because I can still see him going to Dumbledore, though probably not until it was already almost too late.

Hummm. But I think if you track backward, there's no Remus as part of the Marauders, so maybe there was less pranking tolerated between Snape and Sirius and James (because a different prefect might have ridden them harder). Also, the Shack Incident didn't happen, which I still think was probably a key motivator in Snape's allegiances.

Finally, we don't know that Snape went to DDore over the plot against the Potters. It's one of those things fandom assumed very early on. Instead, we know Snape heard part of the Prophesy and that Dumbledore knew Snape had heard part of it. And your James and Lily lived, so wouldn't it make more sense that Snape turned hero even sooner than expected, rather than stayed on the side of Dark, ending him in Azkaban?

ah, thank you. It's been a while since I've read the books (and heard about Snape's relation to the Prophecy) and you're right, it's possible that Snape turned good sooner than expected. Also a good point about the Pranking towards Snape, especially since Regulus was part of their group, he would have been reluctant to be cruel to someone in his own house. Now I feel like I should write Snape in somehow, heh...

"Oh, darn, I would hate that." - Yeah, that's my sarcasm voice. I would love it!

I have this thing about AUs and knowing how everyone fits in. Snape was so caught up with the Marauders in the books, it's always interesting to me to know how he turns out. I'm curious about how he would change in your scenario. Is it possible Remus would even know Snape, maybe, if he were close to Dumbledore as well? Dunno! Now I'm just daydreaming on my own tangent....

Still reading, btw, and enjoying. *g*
