That I have a job…for now. Patient census is low, so we're not sure what's going on here.
Something important on your desk:
I'm at work, so there's actually nothing really important on this desk….it's just a job.
If you could afford it at the moment, you would buy:
Bills, divorce papers, and a vacation anywhere.
If your house was burning and you could only save 3 items what would they be:
My cameras, the photo boxes, and the cat.
You are embarrassed when:
I'm the center of attention-I feel the need to be extremely entertaining and 9 times out of 10 I end up saying "um...." a lot. Oh-and when someone pays me a compliment. I should be flattered and say thank you or something but I usually just blush and mumble like a huge dork.
Who/What makes you happy:
A good cup of coffee, times when I don't have to shower/sleep alone(though I enjoy them alone sometimes too), fresh baked anything, hugs, a great conversation, laughing so hard you can't breathe, jammies off the radiator in the winter, singing along to your fave song…..
Who/what makes you sad:
Seeing other people suffering physically &/or emotionally-esp. ppl I love or care about.
One of your most peaceful memories:
Riding through the west in the back of the family van on a family vacation listening to great music on headphones drowning out the sound of my brother and sister bickering, writing in my journal or reading a book and not being carsick all at once while the gorgeous scenery flew by for 2 weeks.
One of your angriest memories:
I actually don't get angry-ever. I don't bottle it up or anything either-I just don't see how it accomplishes anything or solves a problem. I've been ticked off at times but never what I'd call angry. I don't know if it's Zen or something, but for some reason it bothers other people at times when I don't get angry. I do get cranky on occasion though but that's usually when I haven't had enough sleep-I'm most definitely not a morning person. You have been warned.
A memory that makes you laugh:
OMG-soooo many! I've got faves with each friend that I'll not bore the rest of you by listing here, but if I've almost shot something out my nose in laughter, it was a favorite.
A memory that makes you happy:
Grandma
Two things appealing about people:
Sense of humor(ability to laugh at oneself is included there too)and intelligence.
Your secret passion:
None of my passions are really a secret.
If you could have one super power what would it be:
Um...the desire to do housework? No? Um...the ability to answer this question? The ability to pull off that whole cape and tights look? The ability to pet Ash without getting bit or clawed?
Pick a Band or Artist and only answer in Song titles:
Weezer

Why no, I’m not excited at all for another new Rivers Cuomo solo cd(11-25-08)
Current mood: frisky
Last December what was your love life like?
Nonexistent. I was making an effort to take the time to get past any issues so I wouldn't ruin any future relationships based on my last one. Also, I was making sure I didn't jump into a rebound relationship either. I waited quite awhile to date again.
Do you care what others think about you?
There are a small handful of ppl that I do care what they think of me-parents, my brother, and a few best friends/lovers that I'd like to keep that way. Everyone else can generally get bent.
If your best friend liked your ex, what would you do?
I would warn them, but ultimately, I can't/won't tell anyone what to do with their lives. No one learns anything that way.

Eating warm brownies with cold milk and watching Robot Chicken Star Wars on my couch with J.M.
Besides this, what are you doing right now?
Answering the phone, making appointments, looking up old patient labs/charts/visits.
Will you be up before 7 am tomorrow?
Yes-I need to be in this office tomorrow at 6:30am tomorrow. Wednesday I don't have to be in until 9 though, so it's ok.
Do you get mad when your current bf/gf talks about an ex?
No.
Want something you can't have?
Sometimes(and really, who doesn't?).
What do you do when you' re sad?
Call ppl that will make me feel better, watch something funny on tv, visit the LOLcats, listen to Weezer's Green album(that cd IS my happy place), go for a long walk/bike ride, get frisky with someone
What did you do today?
So far just work, but there's dishes & laundry to do when I get home.
Do you hate the last person you kissed?
Far from it!!!!
Do you have a secret that you've never told ANYONE?
Yes.
Something that happened in your past that you hate talking about?
I have things that I'm tired of talking about for sure, but I understand some ppl weren't around for all of it and need to be caught up. It's ok. I don't dwell on it at all. I only bring it up if someone else asks.

Not on purpose.
Ever been licked on the cheek or forehead?

Just acquaintances, no one I'm especially close to.
Do you hate anyone right now?

What can you hear at this moment?
My MP3 player on my PC, the crappy muzak on the PA, phones in offices nearby, coworkers chatting in the hall.
If you could change something about yourself, what would it be?
Lasik, new clothing, better social skills, and more situps.

Meditations on Jenny kissed.......
Current mood: crushed
This is a poem by my fave poet, Rod McKuen(an actual blog entry follows it)....
Jenny kissed me,
only once,
he said to me,
Now she's gone.
How do I go on?
Every day I wait
remembering that once
my Jenny kissed me
and as she was leaving said,
now I'm going, now I'm gone.
Only once and never more
timidly my Jenny kissed me
touched my lips before goodbye.
Every day I wait and wonder
If life and
love has not missed me
only to pass on, pass on.
Valentines are sent to others
everyone but me.
Yet I never miss the heart card,
oh no, Jenny kissed me
untied my heart and set it free.
So I'm going with a piratical/nautical theme in the living room-the Egyptian thing is getting a bit old. Don't get me wrong-I still love it, it's just getting put away for a couple years. I can always do a different room at some point later with it(actually maybe the spare bedroom). Anyway-I've got 3 signs on the walls-2 tin and 1 faux wood('a red one with a skull & xbones that says 'surrender the booty', a beige one with a pirate on it saying 'keep out-this means you, matey', and the big one says 'skull & xbones pub: strong ales & loose women est. 18somethingty something). So now there's this awesome table to go with it!!! When my folks were in town last month, mom and I saw that my neighbors next door were throwing out this gorgeous table. The top is possibly antique with a mahogany looking finish. This table used to be the kind where you could add leaves to make it bigger, so it's super sturdy. It appears someone took off the original legs and replaced them with a smaller wooden box with shelves in it to make it a coffeetable. It's gorgeous and I loved it! So we took it. It was worth the pain in the ass it was to get up the stairs.
So J.M. and I were bored and inspired so we decided it was the big table project day Saturday. Plus it wasn't so cold that a window couldn't be left open all night to air out the resin fumes. I cut out pics from my issues of Pirates magazine and had those, got a bag of shells at June Moon that had sea sand in the bottom, gold dust type glitter, the tiny heart shaped Jack Sparrow charm that used to hang from my phone, a tiny sand dollar, and a mixture of fairy dust and the sand. We used a can of Elmer's spray adhesive and it worked wonderfully! Placed the pics where I liked-not too close, not too far apart. The wood is so pretty I definitely wanted it showing between the pics. Sprayed the table in sections, sprinkled it with the fairy dust/sand mixture, brushed off the pics with an old toothbrush, and then we mixed the resin coat to pour. The cat thankfully was in the bathroom with his litter box and food/water, so he would be fine. Angry, but fine. We poured out the resin and watched it spread out, ran our gloved hands around the edge, and left for the night because honestly, the fumes were disgusting.
24 hours later, the cat freed from his bathroom prison, and the table looks amazing!!! The resin muted some color so it looks perfect-it even toned down a bit of the sparkly stuff and made it look more like sand than fairy dust. As soon as I get a sunny day here, I'll take some pics and post them-there's too much glare from the flash to take anything worth looking at. I can't wait to show it off! J.M. and I will have to sign and date the rim of it someplace in gold ink. He deserves half the credit at least for how it turned out.
I'll be getting some netting from the craft store and tying some of these shells in it on the wall my dinner table is against. Maybe I'll start looking for an old ship steering wheel-you know the big ones with the posts to grab onto for turning it? Or perhaps a replica would be more affordable. We'll see. I'd hang that in front of the net with the shells. Maybe get a ship in a bottle-pre assembled to make a lamp out of. I need some more lighting in the living room. It does need one more coat of resin but I'll likely do that after the holidays. It's $25 for enough to cover 8-10 sq. feet.
That job the staff in the pain clinic was kind of holding for me isn't going to happen. Another department is closing and a staff member(less qualified-she doesn't even know how to use a computer)from there will be taking the position. The pain clinic staff has no choice-they all wanted me-the nurses, management, & the docs. I'm a bit crushed-this is the second time I was supposed to move over there that hasn't worked out.
Just venting here, but.....
I don't mind if you show up without an appointment-I'll gladly squeeze you in somewhere. It's when you walk in and expect to be seen before the 3 ppl ahead of you that called and made appointments and give me attitude that I have a problem with. Do not keep popping into my office asking if you'll be seen soon-the answer was no 10 minutes ago-it sure as hell isn't going to be any sooner after giving us your 'tude!

IDK-its not until September.
Do you find it easier to forgive or forget?
Forgive.
Do you hate being alone?
Sometimes
How late did you stay up last night?
1:30am
When you are home alone at night and hear strange noises, are you afraid?
A bit-which reminds me, I should put this big knife under my matress......
Ever told your parents you hated them?
I'm sure I did when I was living at home as a teen.
I wish: winter only lasted a month
I love: a good snuggle
I miss: having a moped
I hear: the cd I'm listening to
Do you watch MTV anymore?
Not in years and years-are they still touting themselves as 'music television'? Pfffft-someone ought to sue them for false advertising or something. Do they even play music anymore? It's been years since I've seen a video on that network.
What movie is in your DVD player?
I don't leave dvds in there when it's not in use, but the last movie in it was 'Layer Cake" last night.
Have you told anybody you love them today?
I haven't talked to my folks today, so no.
Have you ever liked anyone on your top friends?
More than once, yes.
Do you think too much or too little?
I think too much when I sleep alone and I'm laying there in the dark.
Are you currently crushing on anyone?
I'm dating my crush.
What brand of shirt are you wearing?
I'm wearing jammies.

I admire you so much in the morning time our hearts will touch....
Current mood: busy
I had a really nice Thanksgiving at my sister's house in Litchfield, Illinois(ie: everyone got along and no one screamed or cried). I got to play Guitar Hero 3, which I of course want to get now-after I replace my guitar controller that I wrecked whilst rockin' out once a bit too hard. I had star power and used it, but did it too enthusiastically and hit the ceiling fan which caused a short in the wires to the buttons. Now it decides in the middle of a 40 note streak to stop registering that you're hitting the buttons at all. The first song I played was "My Name is Jonas" and it was sooooo cool!
Had a great train ride there and back! Loooooved that Amtrak had us wait in 'the great hall' instead of their tiny waiting rooms. Didn't have to share seats there or back, which is always nice because the general public is pretty germy-not that I'm a germaphobe, I just don't like catching colds when I go through the trouble of getting a flu shot every year. Saw "Bolt" and "Wall-e" during the trip with the niece and nephews & Wall-e was really cute. I had a great book to read too- "The Final Confession of Mabel Stark". It's about a female tiger trainer in the 20's.
Got home and missed the screening of "I am Bruce" with Bruce Campbell doing a Q&A after at the Landmark-it probablysold out in minutes and I didn't find out about it until the night before. On the plus side, I got to have dinner at The Duke of Perth! Nothing better than shepherd's pie with a pint of Blackthorn from the tap by the fire with good company after spending a noisy week with family!!!
Went to the Christkindlemarket at Daley Plaza-I cannot stop telling ppl to go to this! I got most of my Xmas shopping done there, but the best part is the goodies! Fresh soft gingerbread bites, candied almonds, hot stuffed pretzels, Irish crème truffles, honey gummi bears, and the best part…….Gleuwhein!!! It's a hot spiced sweet red wine that's made just for the Chicago Christkindlemarket and comes in a souvenir mug($7-only $5 for refills)!!! That warms you right up after being outside for a couple hours shopping. It was so good that we went over to Macy's so I could grab a few bottles as gifts and a couple for myself as well(you can get it there or at Binny's). Anyway-it's going on until Xmas eve and I've been telling everyone to go. There are gifts/stuff there for any budget-a lot of it is German(obviously), but most of it is handmade things you can't get just anywhere. I'd like to go at least once before it closes. Plus, its uber easy to get to-just take the blue line to Washington and go upstairs-you come out right by the Picasso.
I put up the tree this week-slowly so as to not disrupt the kitty(or rather, the other way around). 24 hours with nothing on it, then I slowly added things. It worked perfectly and my tree as of yet remains unmolested. Oh-and it looks pretty too!
Got 2 albums this weekend-the new Rivers Cuomo solo cd and the Kristin Chenoweth Xmas one that I got for my mom but she said I could burn myself a copy before I send it to her(so now I'll have 2 Xmas albums-this one and Jewel's). You all know how much I adore Mr. Cuomo but to be perfectly honest if you took all the really good songs from both his solo albums, then you'd have a solid record. Also, I'm rather surprised at the inclusion of yet another photo of Rivers in drag. The first one was funny and now it isn't(and you all know I love trannies too, so don't go pointing fingers at me). I love nerdy boys and I love drag queens but not nerdy boy drag queens. Some great things do not go great together.
Not exactly sure what I'm doing for Xmas-I'm likely going to be scheduled to work, but cancelled due to no patients in their right mind scheduling surgery the day after Christmas-possibly the same for the day before as well and New Year's Eve too(not sure what's going on that night either-I suppose it will depend on what kind of day I have at work). I jsut told mom they could bring their aerobed and stay here if they'd like.
Finally got around to watching "The Notorious Bettie Page"-not bad! Though I do find it a bit of a stretch that she didn't know guys were wanking it to her pics/short films. The dvd also has something I've never actually seen before-footage from one of Bettie's short stag films.
Watched "Love Actually" Sunday night-since it is a xmas movie-and it takes on an entirely new feel when you've been smitten by someone. I still have quite a few holiday must see movies to go…
A Christmas Story
Elf
Bad Santa(or even better, Badder Santa, the unrated version!!!)
Miracle on 34th St.(the original, not the crappy remake)
Charlie Brown's Christmas
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Ref
The Grinch(the REAL one with Boris Karloff-NOT the abomination that is the Ron Howard debacle)
March of the Wooden Soldiers(the hilarious Laurel & Hardy version, not the crappy remakes with different titles. Babes in Toyland = same movie).
Omgomgomg! I almost forgot the coolest news! I have DSL now!!!! *squee* Plus a new tower(well, new to me)that is twice as powerful as what I was working with here. So if you have any funny/interesting videos to send me, please feel free! I already have 2 new faves over at Youtube: The Mean Kitty and Engineer's Guide to Cats. Both are hilarious and made me either spit take or outright shoot coffee out my nose(WTG, Brian! That coffee stain on my lab coat will always remind me of you-LOL).
I made out my Xmas cards tonight and I've got laundry in the dryer. I feel so productive!!!! Go me!

I <3 cleats!
Current mood: frisky
I've been rather busy lately: with what I am not exactly sure. I feel like I don't have time to get things done, but I can't look directly at any one thing and say I it looks accomplished. It's like treading water around here lately. This is at home and at work actually.
Pool of Frogs January 2nd at the Metro! The MFing METRO!!! Woo hoo!!!! Oh…and there are FREE passes available! How much better does that get? Oh wait….it does! The show's on a Friday night!!! Yee ha! Can't wait!
DSL is the best thing ever. I love it. I still take my lunch breaks in the library at work-mostly because now I'm seen as being anti social with my coworkers and it feels awkward sitting with them. Maybe they don't get that I just work here and that I really don't care about their personal lives as much as they tell me about it. Frankly, it gets to be a bit TMI if you ask me.
Anyway-DSL rules, but if you have any suggestions of download sites for music that are good/reputable/virus-free/worth the monthly fees please let me know. Or Youtube stuff-I could stay at that site for hours and not notice. A great place to find stuff I haven't seen since I was a kid.
If you walk around outdoors a lot like I do, you'll do yourself a favor and get a pair of ice cleats. I don't know the name of a national brand or anything or which kind is the best, but I got mine at Bass Pro Shop in Gurnee Mills Sunday, and they are the best! Ppl around here don't shovel and it gets mushy and freezes overnight, so I'm stuck walking at a snail's pace in the freezing cold trying not to fall on the way to/from work/home. These are SUCH the little timesavers! And I don't feel/look like an ass for walking like a 90 year old lady.
I really should pick up a sled. Days like today make me want to go sledding. Not too cold, perfect snow for it. They had some nice ones at Bass Pro Shop too. I don't have extra money right now though because of Xmas. I'll get paid again on the 24th-maybe I'll go a few days later.
Speaking of Christmas, my folks are driving up Sunday/Monday and staying at my apartment with me all week. I'll be working every day from 6a-3p, so it should be ok. Hopefully my brother can make it over to my house too-haven't seen him in ages. It's been waaaay too long and there's really no reason for it. I asked mom to show me how to make her beef stew recipe while she's here-not only so I get some beef stew(which is the best in winter!), but so I can learn by watching. I've tried several times but the texture/consistency never comes out quite right. Maybe we'll eat out a time or two-I know they'd love Flat Top.
I just cannot stop listening to my playlist here because of the 2 songs from the movie, "Love Actually". Damn you, Billy Mack!!!! *shakes fist*
