Kat in Kathmandu

Hello faithful readers! I am using an old blog of mine to keepyou updated. so ignore everything that is before this post. That is just junk. Sooo what is new, well I have spent 2 days in theorphanage a little outside of kathmandu. My friend Olivia and I are having a great time with the kids! 15 minutes after meeting us they started hugging us and holding our hands. The adore all of them but I am particularly popular with the boys due to my extensive knowledge of Batman, spierman, superman and even Pokemon. The fact that I can sing the pokemon song got me more points that the person who brought them candy!  All they want to do is sit on my lap. We just dance a lot and I am trying to reenter my mind as a 7 year old girl. I taught them crocka dilly oh me for those of you that can remember. We play duck duck goose which is apparently called Du du JUICE!!! I didn't know. oh yeah... i forgot. They also LOVE rocks paper scissors. which they saybackwards. If I have to say one more time Scissors paper rock, I swear I will lose mymind! There are 12 kids the oldest 4 can speak eglish but the others can't. it's amazing how little that matters though. It also makes me reazlize how amazingly lucky I am! I feel such guilt when i wear my socks down in the morning on the cold cement floor, and they are bare foot and look as happy as can be. All I have to do is smile at them and they start to laugh. It is hard though since the place we are staying in a christian group. So yesterday for example we woke up at 6, had a half an hour prayer group. then later we had mass which was 2 hours long. Then we Olivia and I thought we were sitting with the women to hang out after mass Tthey started ANOTHER prayer group!!! for another hour! Just because we are lucky enough to be women we get to pray more. I was like ... can I go play through the socks off the balcony with the boys? Then at night we end the day with... you guessed it. Another prayer group. Now I am not an atheist, but as my parents can atest to with my not going to chruch EVERY sunday, and casey can tell you stories about my lack of Christian knowledge from ccd class, this gets a tad akward for Olivia and I. Especially when one of the eldest girls starts crying everytime we pray. Or David the head of the ophangage askes us why is it that we believe in Jesus Christ our savior. Talia it kinda reminds me of that Brazillian church we went to without the writhing. But the way I see it, its an educational experiance for me. And it makes me alittle uncomfortable but how wonderful is it that these kids have a sense of comfort from having this religon in their life.

Ok I better go. My time is up. A couple things to remember. i am not spell checkingthis because i need to crank this out so please don't judge. Also I will not be able to keep this updated that often but I will try. Today Olivia and I had to travel 2 hours to get to a computer where they had electricity. Thjis included going through three wedding receptions, 1 english class where we had to meet the classmates and our first time on the scary bus. The entire bus laughed at me the whole time because I was far too tall to stand on it.So it was a tad interestingbut I made it. And I will try and keep you all posted.

SO MUCH LOVE!
