Now that's my kind of celebrity!

Saturday night Matt and I went to a combo housewarming/marriage celebration at a house two of Matt's friends just bought. They're very active in the theatre scene, and it was fun meeting different people than we usually tend to. Speaking of... Matt's friend (who lives in the back house of the house the other friends bought... bear with me) introduced Matt to a friend of his.

I stood up to shake his hand as well and he looked at Matt and I and said "You guys are together, aren't you? I can see the love." It was adorable. So we chatted with him for a bit and then he headed into the kitchen and Matt turned to me and said "Do you know who that was?" I answered that he looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't place him. Turns out the guy who told us we made a cute couple was none other than Doug Jones, who you may know from Pan's Labryinth (Pale Man), the Hellboy movies (Abe Sapian/The Chamberlain/The Angel of Death), Buffy (Gentlemen), a whole bunch of other things, or most importantly: HOCUS POCUS! Yes, I'm a total dork, and that was the most exciting thing to me. Billy the Butcher, the awesome foul-mouthed zombie who scared me as a kid, shook my hand. And geez is he super nice! Seriously just a really cool guy. He hung out with a bunch of us later as the party died down, and we all ended up in the back house watching concerts on tv. The best part, actually, is that he left with a copy of Matt's movie "Backgroun(ed)", which he says he's going to watch. The director (Matt), writer (Matt's friend Benj), and producer (Andy, the guy whose back house we were in) were all there, so how could he say no? :)

Also, Matt is the best boyfriend ever. He killed the most evil spider since Shelob this morning, when it was threatening my kitty, and he mortally wounded it's slightly skinner cousin moments later. Couple that with the spider I killed in my bathroom, and this morning we killed three spiders in a five minute span. This is the only, only, reason to hate winter. And dude, that Shelob-esque spider was freaking huge! The largest I've ever seen in the wild, not kidding. There's actually bits of spider goo on my window sill... *shudder*
