"You Can't Fool Old Friends with New Limousines" - The Thrills

It is, of course, the day before I want to mail my script out that Final Draft decides it hates me. Why is it so hard to export as a .pdf and retain my formatting? It's worked fine for the past few months, and today it's sending me a giant middle finger in the form of un-italicized text. *sigh*

Last night I took Alan and his then-fiance, now-husband, out for dinner in Hollywood. Let me just say it always feels weird when people from back home visit me in Los Angeles - all of a sudden everything becomes real. I dragged Matt (who's the best ever) along for fun, and he enjoyed listening to stories of me in high school. I picked Magnolia, on Sunset, because I knew it was supposedly very Hollywood and (always a bonus for out of town guests) there's a high likelihood of seeing a celebrity there, with a lower price per meal then at most eateries on the west side. Before dinner we walked to Amoeba to kill time, and who do you think we saw browsing in the dvd section? Ryan Gosling! Yes, Young Hercules himself (and, you know, an Oscar nominated actor) stood a few feet from us. So check one off the list - celebrity sighting accomplished, within maybe 20 minutes of us meeting up. Then at the actual restaurant we saw an actor who had two/three episode arc on season one of Ugly Betty, which at that point was just icing on the cake. Food was good, atmosphere was better, and the company was excellent.

So, great times were had. It was awesome seeing Alan again after way too many years, and it was fun reminiscing and recalling old friends I'd forgotten about. I hope the rest of their trip is going well!!
