No time for coherent thought, so...
-I'm falling in love with
these guys thanks to EW's shoutout. They're a bit more twee than I usually listen to, but there's something so very catchy about them. And they've also written my new favorite non-Aussie pop song title: "We Throw Parties You Throw Knives."
-I'm famous! Well ok, I got a shoutout on Kay Reindl's blog,
Seriocity. She wrote about the ending of the last Sarah Connor episode, with the gunfight choreographed to a Johnny Cash song, and she complained that kind of brilliance is rare on tv these days since the networks use their shows to shill for artists on their labels. So of course I brought up Supernatural, and told her to check out the fabulous use of "Renegade" in season two. Her answer, in which she hints she may have been considered for a staff/freelance position on the show, is
katbaggins sez:
Regarding the excellently choreographed Johnny Cash moment in SCC - check out Supernatural. Their showrunner feels much the same way you do about current music-on-tv trends, and as a result they have more than a few wonderfully shot scenes set to amazing (read: non-cookie cutter) music - in particular the "Renegade" moment in season two. Really great stuff.
You know, that's a show I just haven't watched. I saw the pilot, which was exquisitely shot, and a few other episodes but for some reason (hmm... could it have to do with rejection?????), I haven't watched. I'll catch up, though, because I feel there's something sneaky good about the show that I've missed. I'm pretty sure I mentioned "One Tree Hill" before, but another shout-out -- their showrunner knows his shit. I mean, he names all the episodes after song titles and he's an enormous -- ENORMOUS -- Veils fan. He's the real deal and his love of music really permeates that show.
-Today was supposed to be easy. Last day of wrap, nothing to do but make some cd's and ensure the boxes get delivered correctly. Until about an hour or two ago when a bombshell dropped, and now I'm frantically trying to coordinate fed ex shipments and last-minute dub requests for next week, after the show is wrapped. I should have known this show wouldn't behave itself - why am I surprised?
-I'm still getting used to the fact that on Monday I'll be working in a different building. For those who don't know, I've worked in this building for the last year and a half (on four different shows). It's the closest to having a "real" job I'll ever have. Goodbye wonderful Hollywood Production Center in Glendale! I'm sure I'll be back someday, to partake in your glorious windowed offices again. I'm off to your inbred cousin in Hollywood, with it's tiny offices and no windows.
Tonight, I bought ice cream - chocolate peanut butter. I'm celebrating the end of the show in style!
