In search of discreet advice about romantic traditions

I... er... have some questions I'd like to ask.

I believe I have performed adequate basic research upon the upcoming holiday, but, as ever, the details prove both essential to master and challenging to select.

Would anyone who is familiar with Cloud's world

I may or may not be able to provide the help you desire, but I will do what I can. What is it you wish to know?

One of the things I am attempting to determine is how a person goes about acquiring a private reservation at a romantic place that serves appropriate meals on the same night that, presumably, nearly every other couple in town is possessed of the same intention.

It would be unfair to attempt to play upon my governmental position in order to make such arrangements.

In addition, I am more familiar with the city's bars and cafes than with formal dining options. I learned the bars through my police duties and the cafes through the places where Father Abel and the children acquire sweets, but I'm not really acquainted with non-violent and non-sugared dining options.

I am also hoping for some degree of privacy during the evening, since it is a night intended for romantic gestures.

Have you any suggestions?

[ooc: asking an android about food, let alone romance. XD But he really is looking for advice...]

First, General, I must ask. What culinary skills do you possess, if any?

...I burn things quite reliably.

I can also usually prepare salads, cereal, and sandwiches.

I am still working on the microwave popcorn.

All in all, I thought it might be more advisable to leave the meal preparation to those with talent in the field. But if it is important, I can attempt to practice a specific set of dishes?

I see. My first suggestion was to be a home-cooked meal, but I believe it would be wise to leave that option strictly as a last-resort.

The night you have in mind for this occasion is a difficult night to plan around. The influx of couples seeking out a 'romantic' dinner at city restaurants would make booking a reservation alone a task. If you wish to dine at a higher-end establishment, I suggest you get to it immediately.
If not, are you familiar with anyone else with adequate cooking skills?

I believe you're correct that home cooking ought to be a last resort, and also about the importance of acquiring reservations quickly. Are there any restaurants that you might recommend? Anywhere that civilized people who don't care to be interrupted by bar brawls or police-scanner events choose to gather?

I hesitate to begin listing restaurants myself because the top reasons I would be familiar with a restaurant's name involve its crime rates rather than its cuisine...

I do know quite a few young people with an interest in cooking, though. I would hate to interrupt their own plans for the evening, but -- perhaps I might ask them if I could assist with the general preparation of the food the day before, and simply finish the cooking according to their instructions on the day itself?
