Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Mariners!

So the Mariners game tonight was one of those games that was awful until it was AWESOME! The Mariners were down 2-0 going into the eighth inning, had about 3 hits, and it just felt like the cliche Mariners game: Great starting pitching and no offense. But then, with 2 outs, JUSTIN SMOAK HIT A 3 RUN HOME RUN! And it's just . . . the Mariners haven't had that guy, that guy who can consistently win the game with one swing of the bat and now Smoak is turning into that guy, if he isn't already, and the rest of the division lost, so we're back in second place, 1/2 game out of first.

I don't know, guys. You might want to jump onto the Mariners bandwagon.

It was just . . . so this was actually the smallest crowd in Safeco history (surpassing the record set by the only other Mariners game I've gone to this year! Should I feel self-conscious about this? People don't want to go to games I go to? :P), but when Smoak hit that home run, the place went INSANE. I don't remember the last time I've been at a game with the kind of atmosphere.

And my sister got me a Smoak jersey for my birthday, so we were waving them in the first row . . . yes, that's right! The first row. I asked her where we were sitting yesterday and she said the left field bleachers and I believed her because that's where we normally seat (and they're good seats; Safeco's one of those ballparks where there aren't really bad seats), but when we got to the game, I found out we actually had first row field seats! Here our view! (That's my sister in the picture.) The roof is closed in that picture, but it was open for the game, which is always nice. And it wasn't that cold at all. (I was going to say it was nice, but the skies were still grey. It was Seattle-nice?)

And it was a nice day in general! Probably the nicest birthday I've had in a while. My only complaint is my parents mostly gave me money and now I have to decide what to do with it. :P
