My uncle's funeral wasn't so bad actually and it was really nice to see some of my family. The whole Lets Not Sleep and Hang Out All Night thing my family tends to do was a bit much but it always is. The whole Side Emergency Trip To The Hospital was the part that really made the weekend sucktastic.
My mother has been having these allergic reactions to god knows what. There is no rhyme or reason or any pattern at all to them. Her doctor has been an idiot and an asshole when she tries to tell him about these things. Only after she was hospitalized in late September did he think that maybe she should see and allergist. She generally feels that this doctor doesnt listen to her and I've been telling her to ditch his ass for months now. She still hadn't gone to the allergist just yet. When all this happened in September her throat had closed up so she had a hard time swallowing but could breath just fine. They gave her steroids and it went away. They still have no idea what happened.
So imagine my fun when after going to bed at 2:30 am, waking up at 5 am and getting on our 7:30 am plane to find my mother telling me her tongue is swollen. Last time that was how it started. It took a couple of hours last time so this time she figured she'd relax and we would just see if we could make it home. By the time we were getting ready to land we were thinking we'd just take a taxi to the nearest hospital. By the time we actually landed I think my mom was scared enough to just get an ambulance, particularly as this time it seemed much more swollen than last time. The second we were down and taxi-ing to the gate we got up and got the stewardess. It is nice that when you say Is There A Doctor On The Plane to see two doctors, a nurse and an EMT rush over to you. Everybody was really helpful and the doctor at the ER in Phoenix was awesome. (one of the Plane Doctors looked like
Steve Buscemi. On very little sleep this is creepy. Trust me.)
It turned out my aunt had a cousin in Phoenix that my mom had met before. She's a political science teacher at ASU. She was super great and so while my mom got steroids and slowly unswollen I got to eat, shower and nap. The doc okay'd her to fly home later that evening and we got back about 8:30pm Sun night instead of the noon we were supposed to arrive. I called my boss when we landed and said I was taking Monday off. I needed it.
My mom went to her doctor yesterday and he
A) chided her for coming in without an appointment (!!!)
B) Hadnt yet looked at the EKG they did of her heart in September (she had some anxiety chest pains when she went in so they checked her heart) he found OH hey YEAH that evidence of a small HEART ATTACK sometime in the past the Phoenix Doctor found WAS THERE IN SEPTEMBER and he says "Oh we should get you to see a cardiologist right away" (RIGHT AWAY AS IN SEPTEMBER when you should have looked at the fucking test results??!!)
C) Continues to refuse to give my mom one of those pens you give people with severe allergies so they can stick themselves with major anti-histamines/steroids when they have a major attack despite ALL the OTHER doctors she has seen (in two ER's in TWO STATES) say that she should have one.
FUCK YOU INCOMPETENT ASSHOLE DOCTOR. FUCK YOU UP THE ASS.
ahem. So yeah my mother will be writing out a long time line of this doctor's negligence etc for his bosses to read. Her boss at work said she would help compose it and find where to send it. Her boss is also going to help her find another doctor. In the meantime she will go see a cardiologist and an allergist.
Other than that I am completely unprepared for Dwarven Adventure this wed and I have random mosquito bites that I must have received in Florida. I did however somehow lose weight over my trip and I got all my laundry done yesterday including my sheets and towels.
