Why I hate Generalizations.
When I was writing the subject line, all six words of it, I realized it could mean so many different things. Hell I could go on so many rants about so many things that this could cover. Like the kidnapping/murder case in San Diego. I think it was a terrible thing that happened. I dont think that classifying all sex offenders as the same is right though. The whole time I listened to the news today they keep repeating how he's a sex offender and all sex offenders should be in prison, etc. etc. etc.
Um as far as I knew the classification of a sex offender was someone who had committed a sexual deviant act and was charged for it. This covers SOOOOOO many fucking things its not even funny. I mean a drunk frat boy who decides to go streaking and flashing people could be considered a sex offender. An 18 year old boy who has sex with his 15 yr girl friend whose parents hate him can be arrested for statutory rape and be classified as a sex offender. And not all deviant sex offenders attack girls, there are those who attack boys too you know. And to jumble all of these people together and say they all belong in jail is like saying all single parents whose children are in after school care or hanging out with friends till the early hours are neglectful and should be charged with child endangerment. Im not saying that all sex offenders should be forgiven or whatever, I just hate how fucking generalized it has become.
And then there is the list out for all the world to see. Great, fantastic. Anyone see the episode of Criminal Minds where the little girl is taken, and a woman in the neighborhood is handing out information about the sex offenders in the neighborhood with their addresses on it, and the girl's dad takes a look at it goes to the closest one on the lists house and beats the shit out of him because he KNOWS that this guy did something to his daughter. Only to have the BAU tell him that he doesnt even like girls or something to that affect and wouldnt have touched his daughter. And just because he is on that list doesnt mean he attacked little girls. I wonder how many times that has happened in realty because of that list or something along those lines.
FUCK! As you can see from my mini rant that this kind of went off topic but its too late for me to return on topic since now I must leave. But fuck, if we can classify murder into 3 different degrees plus have it be planned out or spontaneous, couldnt we do that with everything else?
Okay I feel like I should also clarify something. I think that the guy they arrested for the murder in Lake Elisnore and San Diego county did it. I think he should rot in prison and be Bubba's bitch. I am not trying to say I think he is innocent. My whole rant is about generalization of the term sex offender. I want to make that clear.
